Sad part to me is that even with their Dad out of the picture their still with the same ppl that believe he’s innocent. If they had been abused and nothing is said then it was ok.

The 2 sisters I know about didn’t tell, it was their cousin who spent the night and he entered the room. She told her GM the next day.

He’s in for life.

I thought it was one of the sisters who told. Actually two. One who he fondled while she was on his lap at age 5. She jumped up and told someone. Another told her parents a couple times. I got this from the police report which I linked to a couple days ago.

Now, being that this is the internet and it does not matter that I am not a family therapist or otherwise licensed to jump into @rickshaw or @mickey2942 's fascinating conversation:

I think more healthy families are like sturdy mobiles- one moved piece impacts all but the family can adjust.

l think less healthy families are like fragile mobiles that can't survive movement, so every part has to rigidly stay in place or the whole thing crumbles.

That makes so much sense! I’ve heard something that could tie in to that? That people in dysfunctional families tend to be right with one another and adhere to specific dysfunctional roles because if one person breaks away the whole family implodes.

Josh Duggar's booking information (and mug shot):

There is something seriously wrong with this guy. Who continues to smile while being booked into custody after being convicted of heinous crimes against children? It's like he thinks the whole thing is some kind of joke.

I too am thrilled over Josh's guilty verdict. I really appreciate your comments I am quoting. There is so much truth in your words. "We are hurt as well, but choose the truth. Truth is hard." Thank you

Ditto. Excellent post.

I’m behind - saw conviction and taken into custody. Any ideas on what the sentence will be?

It'll be a couple of months before he's sentenced. A pre-sentencing investigation/report has to be conducted and presented to the judge and that may take a while.

A few of us did a deep dive on the federal sentencing guidelines for these offenses (it's calculated on a point system) and came up with 8-12 years. Which is pretty much in line with what this specific judge has sentenced similar offenders in the past.

I agree with you up to a point. She is now much older than when she got married. She’s had seven kids. She lived in DC and associated with others through an exercise group of some sort. She went through the Ashley Madison crisis. She also has two siblings who are not in the sect and one publicly denounced Josh BEFORE this arrest and offered to assist her and house her and her kids if she wanted help. She has a sister who was a single mom, and she associates with her. So she has now been exposed to other points of view.

I think she has the ability and thus the responsibility to protect her kids. Hopefully this verdict will open her eyes and she will make sure her kids are okay and weren’t harmed by him.

Hoping this is her opportunity to break from the D's. They are a powerful, influential, controlling family. Even the strongest, could struggle. I've wondered if she feels threaten of loosing financial support or even her children. Seven children, OMG I can't imagine her thoughts.

@gitana1 .... Very insightful information. So much I didn't realize. I occasionally may have caught a little of the show while channel surfing, NO IDEA this was a religious sect or the extent of control.

The sentencing will be in April.

No federal judge in their right mind would allow this criminal to be released given the bail conditions that he is allowed to be around his children (even with supervision).

You were right. Judge is not having him be on bond while waiting for sentencing. All the time in jail counts as time served including the day he was arrested.

Federal inmates serve 85% of their sentences.

Many defendants are out on bond until sentencing, and then again until they report to prison, but Josh has kids so that could be a factor in remanding him into custody now.

I'm so glad @mickey2942 brought up this concept. IMO it's a great framework for thinking about many cases on WS even though we might not agree on the exact way to apply it. IMO it's right on as a framework to talk about this case.

8-12 total, right? Will his molestation victims be allowed to submit anything?
