I don't know if anyone has posted this, I was looking at pics of the fireman putting out the fire, and suddenly I saw a face, not in 1 picture, but 4 , look at pics 5, 6, 9, and 14 , in #5 look right below where the fireman is spraying the hose, you'll see a face, the same face in all 4 pics. The face looks eerily similar to someone we know.

In #15, there are TWO little faces looking out the back window of that burned-out car. Actually, on second look, it appears to be the front window of the burned-out car. Also, in #19, there are 3 orbs on the bottom of the picture - 2 are white, the third one is darker, sort of reddish orange. Odd there are 3 orbs in that one pic.

My thoughts exactly. This is SO heartbreaking, why oh WHY couldn't that selfish spare the lives of his two innocent sons?? I am in total shock...

I sat down in front of my computer two hours ago. That's when I learned what had happened. I've been sitting here for two hours, shaking my head with my mouth hanging open.

I'm no more shocked than the rest of you. I think a lot of us expected something like this.

But nonetheless I'm absolutely floored by it.

I half expect that there will be some long, ranting, ridiculous manifesto found online that Josh Powell wrote before he killed his children and himself. I refuse to believe that someone like Josh went out with "I'm Sorry, Goodbye" and just tucked his tail between his legs and went to his grave. This was about him, just as everything else is. Everything from the neighborhood to his children were just collateral damage to Josh.

My opinion is that the only reason he took the house, his and Susan's possessions, his vehicle and his children with him, was because he didn't want anyone else to have anything that belonged to him if he killed himself. He must have known something was coming down. I can't really see Josh Powell committing suicide unless it was to avoid the death penalty or life in an 8x10 cell.....or more to the point...to avoid being exposed as everything he's systematically denied for two years.

What's ironic is that for someone as smart and superior as he thought he was, he was a moron and he proved that in the end. Are we to believe he didn't kill Susan NOW? He was only accused of killing Susan, nothing proven. But we KNOW he killed two innocent little boys who never did a thing to anyone....AND endangered the lives of everyone in the neighborhood. Is there any doubt in anyone's mind now as to whether or not he killed Susan?

I seriously doubt it.

I couldn't agree more--this is exactly the same thing I thought. What a loathsome disgusting monster this man was. I'm just ... wow, there are no words for how hearing this news made me feel. My heart is aching for those poor innocent boys.

As many have mentioned, it's especially heartbreaking because so many of us thought ... no, we KNEW Josh could do something like this and were so relieved when he lost custody. Thre are just no words.

I did have one thought, and sorry if this has already been discussed--considering many of us have felt that JPs father was somewhat of his puppet master, does anyone think that not only SP knew this was about to happen, but perhaps he suggested it to JP?

why would they allow visits at the house? and were they only like a few hr visits or overnight/weekend visits. those 2 innocent boys did not deserve to die

He seems to have been one of those narcissists who would rather kill their own children than see them raised by somebody else. People like that basically see their children as extensions of themselves, so if he'd decided life wasn't worth living for him, he would see no point in letting the children live.

I didn't listen to any news yesterday, the kid was playing X-Box and then we started watching the Super Bowl, and I went to bed at 9pm - so I'm just learning about this now.

I feel so overwhelmed, almost beside myself - I was still following the case and was looking forward to seeing a very guilty verdict for Steven and charges to be brought against Josh. I had no idea the visitations were at the house...I thought that visitations of that sort were at a park, or playground, or playroom at a social center...not in a home.

Many prayers to the Coxes...I'd have a good cry right now but I'm at work. I can only hope that the Coxes know how much we all here at WS care for them, and how much we share their grief.

I am so sad when I heard this last night. What a selfish, coward of a man. A pure evil heart to take the lives of his boys. Those are his kids, they would of been provided for and allowed to have a life.. but NO that life would of been with Susan's parents... so he takes their lives.. wasnt it enough to take their mother..

I am at a loss of words.. this is the worst case senario to end as it has.

There is no way that even supervised visitation should of been allowed.. unless it was at a supervised location that is set up for these type of visits.. close supervision at a child/parent visitation center.. where it is taped.. monitored etc.

Why would he be allowed to have those kids in his home... even if social worker was there.. she was lucky she was not killed.. if she was in that home, she would of been in the blast..

this is such a heartbreaking ending... he must of really hated his wife and anything left of her to take those babies..

Pastor also said that it appeared to be an "act of evil" and that the home looked "staged" with photos of Susan on the walls and other items to make it appear as if Josh were a responsible and caring parent.

The photos of Susan on the walls could have been a final aggressive act towards her. Symbolically she got to watch when her children were murdered in a blaze of horror.

The blindness of supposed justice saddens me deeply. Those innocent boys ought not to have been allowed "supervised" time with their father in his own environment. There was more than enough information available for anyone who was so inclined to read it to suspect foul play in his wife's disappearance. For the sake of "fairness" two innocent children were ruthlessly murdered by their "non suspicious" (not) biological father. Shame on the powers that be who allowed the murderous pathological monster the latitude to complete such an evil deed.

The news of this horrific and preventable tragedy has hit me like a strong punch in the gut.

I have not felt this way since watching the heartbreaking documentary, Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father. If you don't know anything about this film and this case, please click here. It happened in Newfoundland, where a judicial system (and a judge) failed a child and restored custody to his Momster, who was accused of murdering his father. When she saw she might lose custody of the child to her victim's parents, she took the 14-month old little boy into the ocean with her and they both drowned.

When will the courts realize that these children are not just possessions of their demented, pathological parents and do what it necessary to protect them?

My sister's soon to be ex-husband was raised by his father's family without any true knowledge of why his mother had died. In fact, his father and the father's girlfriend (and later wife #2) had been found guilty of murdering his mother and had spent some time in prison. The 3 children were raised by the father's parents and deliberately kept away from the mother's family. This has caused a lifetime of confusion and pain from my sister's ex, who at 55 years old is still coming to terms with what his father did.

It is my wish that all court officials, judges and attorneys be compelled to follow sites like Websleuths so that they can understand the true evil that exists out there. Maybe it will help them make better decisions regarding custody when one sick, twisted parent thinks the other and their children are just pawns in a game of obsession and control.

Enough said. My prayers go out to the Cox family and to the two innocent boys who have been reunited with their mother. Very Sad.

I haven't read about any physical searches lately but the children were starting to speak about the camping trip and there was a custody hearing last week in which they recommended that he should undergo a psychosexual evaluation and a LDT.
