Jr's custody issue arising from Ron's arrest

That is 1 relief that JR is away from GGS and TN..........they would of made him a clone of Ron.

(IMO) So long as Jr. remained in the care of the Cumming's family, there was no hope for his future. At least today, now that Butterbean is finally with his Mommy, glory, glory, there is hope!!!
JMHO -

I always maintained that this woman should have never lost custody of her children. The only reason she did was because of her lack of funds and lack of transportatlion resulting in her inability to fight for them in court therefore they were awarded to a drug addicted loser. Sometimes there is no justice but it is good to hear she is finally reunited with her son, to bad her ex and his childbride weren't arrested before Haleigh turned up missing, sad situation all the way around.

Please, God, let Crystal step up to the plate and do right by this child.

I'm hopeful.

Thank God! Maybe, just maybe, this little boy stands a chance at having a decent life - which is far more than poor Haleigh ever had.

Thank God, JR is finally where he belongs ! I would pay to see Ron's facial expression when he gets word of this !

Does CS have a new attorney?
Not sure who, but not KP. She told KP to never contact her again.
I just pray that now that Jr. is safer CS and her true friends will give he a hand and guidance so that she can get through all of this with Jr. He really needs a lot of help right now, especially counseling. I strongly feel that once Jr. is in counseling on a regular basis he will remember what all he saw the night Haleigh went missing. It will take time, but I feel it will happen. I pray God wraps his arms around this little angel, he must be so afraid and confused.

I'm glad JR is with his mom. I think Crystal, after suffering the loss of Haleigh will cherish his presence in her home.

Haleigh disappeared when Ron had custody, from his home. I'll bet Crystal will be focused on being a good mom after all they have both been through. Prayer's for little JR & Haleigh.

I think it will be good for little Rjr to be with his little sister. I do hope Crystal's family and friends will help out. Let's hope all in the family has learned lessons and will now put the tiny ones first about all else, including Crystal, because we've heard there were problems on that side, too.

I think with help from others, the children could be much safer with Crystal. I'd love to see many friends and relatives rally around the little family and give support in all ways possible. Rides to counseling, assistance with grocery shopping, babysitting, help with doctors' appointments, everything we all need at times in our lives.

What terrible trauma this little boy has already experienced in his short life!

Grandmothers have no say in parental custody and are not entitled to visitation rights. Those things are worked out if the mother or father chooses to do so. Legally GMA's are out of luck when primary parents are custodial parents.

I hope and pray that Crystal stays clean & will realize what a gift Ron has handed over to her, due to his own druggie lifestyle.

I also hope for Butterbean's sake, that this is permanent! He certainly doesn't need to be around those kinda GMA's.

I'm not jumping for joy that CS got custody. Of course, it's better than RC having him, but she's definitely got some problems, too. I really truly hope she gets her act together to care for RJ and his baby sister.

An emergency hearing was held in Palatka on Thursday over who should get custody of Ronald Cummings Jr. after his father was arrested on drug charges.

Crystal Sheffield, whose daughter Haleigh Cummings has been missing since February, was awarded custody of her son.

Sheffield was to pick up her son Friday afternoon.

:woohoo:

Happy dance!

Does this mean she gets complete custody of Junior now and that there is no way for Ron to ever get the child back? I can only hope and pray that this is the case. I am so happy for Crystal and her family! He has needed to be out of Putnam County and with his mother since day one.

I agree with you! She also has another child by a different man that she as raised since birth so obviously there was never any issues with that child. One of many things that had made me livid through out this whole case is that little Junior was never in the custody of his mother. I never understood why that was. Crystal may have had some drug issues in the past but I honestly believe that it was one of those cases where she had done them on occasion but wasn't really addicted if you get what I mean. I mean like she didn't do them everyday. I believe that with how big this case is that the courts would have placed Junior with social services if they thought Crystal was unfit.

Question - Does this mean Crystal will have permanent custody of him?

I hope and pray with this decision all of Butterbean's family will get their act together, Haleigh is found and this child will someday begin to have a happy, prosperous, educated life....

His family should make sure this child never sees a drug in his life. I hope the MEDIA will stay away from him....he has been through enough in his little life already.

chesterp or anybody, do you know if he was attending pre-K this year? Just wondering.

This was discussed in detail before. From what was posted- he did not attend Pre-K. I hope Crystal gets him into something as soon as she can. I think he would thrive in an early learning program. jmo
