It IS a great idea for all the reasons Jump mentioned. I know there are a lot of USELESS thugs in prison; but there are also talented ones...so why not put them to work helping society? After all, we tax payers are spending to keep them alive; this would be their way of paying us back.

I got quite a kick out of Albert's response and the other comments added to it significantly. Yep, i think Prison labor pays out at something like 20 cents an hour, quite a come down from his previous salary, but this could all be part of a grand scheme by Cisco to begin training prisoners in the configuration of their networking equipment.

But to highlight RedDresses's comment, I am not sure that having thugs and techies mix is all that great an idea.... the thugs could no doubt find creative uses for the techie talent. ID Theft, etc. come to mind immediately.

Some of my comments are somewhat tongue in cheek, I think they are obvious, so if something I have said strikes you as wrong, go back and re-read it... you are probably missing the implied joke.

Let's see..hmm...at $.20 and hr. X 40 hrs. X 52wks. that would be $416 annually. Take out child support, and BC MAY be able to pay off his retainer fee to K&B before pushing up the daisies.

True enough - quess we'll find out. Most unusual for a cashiers check to not clear since it is drawn on a bank not a person.

Maybe there was an issue with it crossing borders.

I can't think of any reason that the border would be an issue.

Maybe it takes longer for a check to clear when dealing with banks in different countries. This wasn't a personal check...it was a cashiers check. Just trying to figure out a reasonable reason why it was taking a while to clear.

Thanks, Star12. I was just about to ask if anyone had info about tomorrow. You were reading my mind.

I still haven't gotten an answer to how long a Rule 24 hearing (generally) takes.

Am hoping that NBC 17 will send their most excellent reporter to cover this hearing and that he will be able to update on the NBC 17 website as he did last time - great job of keeping us informed.

That would be Chris C. and I bet he'll be there.

Hearing should be starting soon.

To those of you there - hope you are enjoying what looks like huge snow flakes but be careful !

There is some additional information here:

http://wake.mync.com/site/Wake/news/story/19457/cooper-custody-details-to-be-made-public/

Some things we had not heard before such as the media also getting into the fight over sealing the temp custody order.

In my part of Cary we only saw fine nodues of snow, mixed with rain, and no accumulation, although I did see one car with some snow sticking to it. But now it's bright and sunny.

Anxious to hear the hearing news.

Dunno if this is right but for some reason the N & O believes the custody ruling has been settled and will be revealed later today:

http://www.newsobserver.com/2864/story/1303930.html

"The judge also denied sealing a custody order awarding temporary guardianship of the girls to Nancy Cooper's family. That means details of the arrangement will be made public later today."

Thanks for being so on top of this, RC!!

Also, I found out that a 'Rule 24 hearing' takes mere minutes, maybe 10 or 15. The prosecution basically announces to the judge whether they intend to seek the DP or not.

Yep - all the DA has to say is yes or no and if yes this is why - aggravators x, y, or z. Depending on the evidence, there is a good possibility of them going the DP route. The latest revelations about planned liquidation of assets sure doesn't help the jailed one out on this issue.

Chris C at NBC 17 has updated and is also reporting that Judge Sasser denied sealing the temp custody ruling and that it will be made public today.

Chris also confirmed this.

"A judge ruled today that the details in the custody battle between a Cary man in police custody and the family of his murdered wife will be made public."

Good morning everyone!

It's almost like being there!

Except...not really cause I'm on a work conf. call right now and I'm not paying close attention to what is happening on that call...and every so often someone says my name and I'm like, 'huh?'
