TOPEKA, Kan. — Gov. Laura Kelly has added a new phase to the “Ad Astra” state reopening plan, which will allow some businesses to open but keep others that would have opened in Phase 2 closed.

The executive order, which was signed on May 14, establishes Phase 1.5, starting May 18.

The new phase will allow nail salons, barber shops, hair salons, tanning salons, tattoo parlors and other personal service businesses to open. Walk-in appointments are not allowed.

Gyms are also allowed to open, but group fitness classes are not allowed, and locker rooms can only be used to go to the bathroom. All of these companies must adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Gov. Kelly adds Phase 1.5 to Kansas reopening plan, some businesses to remain closed

Gov. Kelley decided to add a step 1.5 opening on May 18th instead of a step 2. There is a list of the types of Businesses that are to remain closed in the article.

Since Kansas has no mandates and it is up to each person and business to do what they choose, I am just holding my breath to see where this is going to end up.

Wichita woman self quarantines, tests for COVID-19 after partying among crowds at Lake of the Ozarks

Watch the video....holding my tongue! She was all about her! Never thought of anyone else.

Rachael Wake, 20 yea old woman self quarantines Because

“I understand just because you're on vacation doesn't mean the pandemic stops, but it felt normal for the first time in a really long time (because) everyone was having fun on vacation," Wake says.

"It might be selfish, but I also have a preexisting health condition, so I'm putting myself at risk, but at the same time, I would rather have fun while I'm here than be shut in a house, especially in my 20's," Wake says. "It's not fun to sit in the house all of the time."

Wish there was a dislike or sad or scary button instead of “like” for all your updates! Thank you
I agree! Sometimes I see a post that I don't want to like but want to acknowledge. I do wish we had another option.
