I'm glad they let Hope go to the funeral

I wonder if she had any supervision at all? I am really glad and shocked they let her. It really was the right thing to do, I mean if Hope had nothing to do with anything Haleigh related, she is the one I feel the worst for in all this, so young.

I'm shocked. Katrina was so young! I didn't know Hope's been ill. I did leave a message of condolence for the family. Really, really sad. Thanks for the updates, everyone.

I don't know how it's done now, but years ago, a friend's father died. Her brother was in prison, and two prison escorts brought him to the services in chains. His mother said later she wished she hadn't allowed him to attend because it was horrible for her to see him like that at his own father's funeral. These days though, they do have the bracelets, so maybe it's not as traumatic, and obvious.

I'm glad to hear that at least Hope was able to say goodbye to her mother. It would have been heartless to have stopped her from attending the funeral.

Hope is back in custody

The inmate for whom you registered, HOPE SYKES with offender number 155265, has returned to custody as of 3/8/2011.

Does anyone know how she died, or if she had been ill for some time? So sad for Hope and the family.

I don't think she was ill. I have been trying to find out all day what happened to Katrina. No one is talking. Locals say they haven't heard anything. So sad as it looked as if she really enjoyed life.

The obituary stated she died unexpectedly.IMO that implies the person was not suffering from any grave illness. They certainly were not expecting her to die..JMHO

No matter how she died, my prayers are with her and her family. I'm glad Hope was able to see the mother that she loved very much.

Was Katrina the one who owned the landscaping business that we thought
RC would have access to equipment and land???

So sad -- this family has been through so much. My heart goes out to Katrina for passing at such an early age.

Hugs,

Mel

IMO. How and why she died at the young age of 44 could indeed matter considering everything that has transpired in the last two years since Haleigh was reported as being abducted...
But like you, I am also glad Hope was granted permission to attend her mother's funeral. I can't imagine how horrific it would be to receive news my mother was deceased and I couldn't attend her funeral because I was in prison.
To be honest, I can't imagine what it would be like knowing I had to spend the next 15 years in prison and won't ever be able to talk to or see my mother again .. It's a sad sad situation anyway you look at it...JMHO

My understanding is she did own a tree trimming/landscaping business at the time Haleigh was reported as being abducted and also a window tinting business, however there was no mention of either in the obituary.JMHO

ETA.. Her obituary only states she was a Certified Nursing Assistant.

"Visitation will be 2-3 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at Watts Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be immediately following at 3 p.m."

Hope went back into custody on March 8. Possibly they let her attend her mother's funeral?

Katrinas husband Eric, who died of a overdose in 2003 or so, had the tree service, and up until Ron went to jail, he was working for her, but obviously the business folded.

People are shocked, yet no one knows anything....very strange indeed! What happened to Katrina? We may have to put that question after What Happened to Haleigh. Total silence.

What sad and devastating news to this family. My deepest condolences to all of Katrina's family and friends who loved her deeply, especially to Hope. Losing your mother at such a young age is so difficult, may God keep her close to Him as she grieves.
