Teen dead, suspect at large, another injured after Saturday shootings in SLC

A teen is dead, and the 14-year-old suspect accused of firing the deadly shot is at large.

According to a press release from the Salt Lake City Police Department, 14-year-old Kaydyn Christensen is accused of shooting and killing a 17-year-old boy near 1600 West Ivy Circle.

Police released a photo of the suspect, seeking help from the public in locating him. They said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

“Anyone with information about this case should call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 23-30287.”

Salt Lake City police have taken a 14-year-old suspect into custody after he allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old boy Saturday.

The investigation started at 8:19 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to the area of 1601 W. Ivy Circle. The Salt Lake City Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance took the 17-year-old boy to the hospital, he later died.

This teen was previously reported missing multiple times. He came from a broken home with lots of trauma in his young years.

Missing 11-year-old found safe

Police in South Salt Lake say a boy who went missing over the weekend has been found unharmed.

They say is considered "endangered" due to his age and being in the state's custody.

Missing West Valley City 12-year-old found safe

Police say they are searching for a missing 12-year-old West Valley City boy who hasn't been seen since getting off a school bus Tuesday.

It seems like this poor kid never had a chance…wonder where the parents are. I know he has killed another child, but I can’t help feeling sad for him, too. Fourteen and already a murderer. Awful.

I know murder is murder, but I have read about his parents through people who knew him and life has just been unfair to this boy!
