There's really no direct way to get from K Falls east, you either head north quite a ways, then east or head southeast, then go east. The southern route is quicker, but it would have put here WELL south of where her car was found. I wondering if she was relying on just GPS. Most people my daughters age and younger will NOT carry maps, and shake their head at me when I do. Here's the mapquest route from K Falls to Sioux City (to get to Shenendoah, you'd just head south at Omaha once getting into Iowa).. Directions from Klamath Falls, OR to Sioux City, IA - MapQuest

She appears to be from Iowa - I found some minor traffic infractions going back to 2013 there and a 2019 civil case that was ultimatley dismissed in 2021. Her middle name is Danae. Iowa Courts Online Search

Her last address found is a residence in Klamath Falls which she lived at 2019 through the current month. https://www.truepeoplesearch.com/find/person/px26446l9r264uun8n6u4

Was she moving back to Iowa or just visiting family? A flight might be quicker, but airfares between Medford and Omaha are running about $600 round trip on the mainline (non budget) carriers right now, so perhaps she thought it would be cheaper to drive.

Looks so desolate where she was last seen -

I've driven across Oregon many times and there are so many spots where you are out of cell service, you just have to find a spot where your map will connect again.where

How are the roads right now? When the snow and ice are melting, sometimes rural highway roads can be obscured, turnoffs missed, lines in the road hard to see - I know they found her car but was it somewhere weird and off track?

“It was on a remote road where the road had washed out. There aren't any current floodwaters or anything there at this time. And she was not found with her car,” Harney County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Lottie Presley said.

I am also confused a bit about her route. To reach Fields General Store by 8:30am, she would have to leave Klamath 4 or more hours prior. Was she taking the scenic route? Ending up at Fields General Store is about 20 minutes out of the way from the fastest route to Iowa, unless she took a wrong turn which is very possible with no gps signal/physical map. Either way there is something super off about her route compared to her destination.

Alvord desert is a destination and if someone is making a point to go to Fields gas station they like have/had a plan to visit Alvord and the hot springs. It could be that Alvord was something she wanted to see along the way. I agree it's a bit out of the way otherwise.

If it was simply a gas stop there are options in Denio, McDermitt, Winnemucca that would make more sense. That said, these remote gas stations sometimes don't have gas, could be she planned on filling at Denio and they were out. Fields could be the logical choice depending on your remaining gas level.

Has the exact location the car was found been reported? All I have seen is "remote part of southern Harney County" - Harney county is huge.

So sad, but I can understand they probably are certain she couldn't have survived out in the elements this long. It was in the teens the night she went missing and the night after. If the car was disabled and couldn't run (unknown) she'd have no heat source but that may have been why she abandoned the vehicle. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/fields/97710/april-weather/2187039. My thoughts go out to her family and her best friend back in Oregon.

Post from Aunt on Facebook regarding information from Harney County;
We’ve been given this

Trout Creek access Road just passed defenbaughs on Whitehorse, then 5 miles up at wide spot.

Car was at above coordinate. Our staging area was about 1/4 mile below that. If you follow main road to the top, you will recognize cattle guard and past that falling down lean to I mentioned.

Footprints go into Canyon at 42.11914 -118.27721

Cattle guard on top. Dogs pulled that direction Sunday night.

They checked the canyon, Willow Creek Canyon, by foot, air, and horseback.

Footprints say she went south on the road towards the lean to and beyond

I saw a post from the county that warned of wildlife in the area..I think cougars were mentioned. If that is what happened, would they or another animal consume the clothing/shoes? I’m not familiar at all in that area so I have no idea how long those articles would remain relatively intact.
