Beautifully said Chesterp!
:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

HALEIGH is more important to me than the ENVIRONMENT..... She is THEIR MISSING FAMILY MEMBER.... Would you put the enviroment(or would that even enter your mind) if you were trying to keep this in the public's eye?

How about saying "may be in any state" instead of "presumed out-of-State"?
Also, fix the spelling of "Cummings". Great idea!

BBM

Will do - that'd sure get more attention.

To get national media attention back on the case, perhaps Ron and Misty could offer to do an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer or Oprah Winfrey or someone like that. It could be broadcast on or around Haleigh's birthday.

Just a thought.

ETA - this isn't about choosing sides. I just think media would be more interested in them than in anyone else.

I have a friend going to Ohio next week, they drive a RV camper. I am going to give them posters to put in restaurants and KOA's on the way. They can leave extras for other campers to take and post on their way also.

Well I would like to say that I am shocked at the several postings in this thread that are making this a daddy's side, mommy's side event, but I AM NOT. No shock here whatsoever, In my opinion this should have been one thread that everyone should have been on the same side. Haleigh's!

For those of you in the community that feel a balloon release would be detrimental to our earth might I suggest you just don't release a balloon? Buy some school supplies instead and send them to Haleigh's elementary school. Or, don't participate at all. I don't see the benefit of putting down the balloon release and dashing the hopes of people that plan on taking part in what could be a beautiful event! Might I also add that people in America, and the rest of the world do things on a daily basis to add to our list of "ways to destroy the earth". For instance, do you drink from a plastic water bottle? Do you drive a car fueled by gasoline? Do you write on paper made from trees? Do you let the water run while you are brushing your teeth? Do you open junk mail? Do you clean your home with non-toxic cleaners? Do you re-use plastic shopping bags? Do you carpool to work? Do you volunteer at a wildlife agency? I mean the list could go on and on. Very sad indeed.

I will be purchasing A BOUQUET OF RED AND PURPLE BALLOONS, and putting Haleigh's flier inside and letting them go. I will be purchasing paper and pencils and glue sticks this weekend to send to Haleigh's closet. I am proud to be participating in both and ashamed that the balloon release is being overshadowed in this way. I can understand someone caring about the environment and stating their opinions about balloons, but really, this his side, her side, thing is getting to be a bit much! Don't bother quoting my post to defend your stance because nothing you say would convince me that there is no ulterior motive behind the post. Not trying to be snarky...just trying to express my disappointment.

Thank you Kamky :blowkiss: This is why I need help, LOL. I made the changes, I also want to put the letter on top and the Poster on the bottom of the page when I get copies made. This way people can send it out for less postage. For every 5 pieces of paper, you need one stamp. So this will cut down on the postage to mail it out. I don't know how much it will cost to do these in color, but I am going to see. I like color better, but if it's too much I think black and white will do.

Elle,

Thank you for your post. Will you do mine too, email her poster or mail out some in your area? We have several good ways to honor her on her Birthday, so let's just get busy and keep brainstorming of ways to get her face out there.:blowkiss:

BTW; I have installed the ignore button and I feel so much better now.

Thats a great idea, made me think of another possibility. My son will be headed back to college next week, he could take some flyers and put them at the two rest stops along the way.

See that's what I am talking about, you guys are good..... I got my letter on the bottom of the flyer and made it fit, I changed the Paragraph spacing. I will do some with just the poster and some with the letter and the poster. :blowkiss:

Of course Bern, What I will do is print off some extra fliers and get permission to display them in the shop windows of the two strip malls that my daughter works in here in northern Alabama. That would be my absolute pleasure.:blowkiss:

Will you help me by mailing out the ten letters to family and friends?:blowkiss:

Of course Bern, I will do more than the 10. With Haleigh connecting with both of us(and I am sure many others).... I do not understand why she can not say...HERE I AM! Dealing with Spirit is always a lesson.............. and we are sure getting a lesson here.

Whatever she ask I will be happy to do. As for Caylee, when she told me forgiveness.... I can not be ticked at KC...... It is not my place to judge these actions... I have stopped reading those threads because Caylee does not want me too. She knows I will be madder than a wet hen...sad....angry.

I only read Haleigh threads if I see your name..... what do court dates and dr appt from years ago have to do with February 10th 2009.....or MC......or anyone else that day she was taken.

I think I mentioned how surprised I was to see a big poster at a little out of the way convienience store here a couple of months ago. I'm glad that word is still out.

Was not sure if it was OK to post this here, Mod's please remove if needed.

I am in the process of having a door magnets with Haleigh's info made for free through Vista Print to put on our work trucks. I wish I could put every missing child's face on the trucks, it's a shame how many are still missing. Just an idea for other's, the magnets come off clean and will not damage your car-truck.
It's a good way to keep a missing child's face out there. I have been trying to get a good flyer template to use for Haleigh and have not been successful. If someone has one that would be great! TIA
If anyone else wants to have one made just goggle Vista Print, they have a lot of free offers.

I am so glad to hear of the events on Haleigh's birthday since I was just thinking about how I could honor this sweet baby on her birthday. I think the ideas that the other posters came up with are also great.

So in honor of Haleigh, I will be doing the following:
1. Releasing red and purple balloons with fliers on her birthday.
2. Buying and donating school supplies to schools in my area
3. Printing out fliers and asking if I can post them EVERYWHERE I go
4. Sending out e-mails of the fliers to my ENTIRE address book with the
hopes that they will all do the same.
5. Watching a marathon of Dora the Explorer and Hannah Montana
with my nieces who enjoy them as much as Haleigh.
6. Cooking mac and cheese for the kids since it was one of Haleigh's
faves.
7. Spending time with my nieces and nephews, giving them lots of hugs
and kisses, and making sure they all KNOW how much they are loved.
8. Praying everyday that she will be home soon.

I hope EVERYONE will join in and honor this beautiful girl, whom we ALL love, despite the fact that we have never even met her.

Okay, just came back for Office Depot. They charge 59 cents for color copies. So I got the girl to get 2 of the color FDLE posters on one sheet, and got 20 made, that got me 40 color flyers. I got 100 black and white with the letter I drafted on the bottom. My cost was $23.22 That's not bad. I can mail out one color poster and 10 black and white with letter attached to 10 of my friends, they can in turn do the same or at least put a color poster up in a store.

Have you seen the FDLE's flier? It's really the best one I've seen, although it still doesn't have totally accurate information. They did update the information last week to include the birthmark on HaLeigh's back (although they STILL do not list the birthmarks on her face... Grrr)

Anyhow, here is the link to the flier:

I think the magnets are a wonderful idea! :)

I can understand how people might feel this way. However I don't think that there is a need to trivialize support for the environment which sustains not only animal but human life by comparing it to the desperation and frustration of those who are concerned about a missing child. These are very different issues and one can be in support of both even when in general disagreement with the release of balloons.

Please start a THREAD on the environment, it is a very important issue, but not in comparrison to a beautiful, precious little baby who was snatched from her bed in the middle of the night and ONLY God knows what she went through....

This is a HALEIGH THREAD.

My point exactly.

I was simply stating that you can support both Haleigh and the environment. That is all. Thanks.

Hopefully this story will generate the same amount of discourse in the media as it does here.

I would hope that RON would support the project that Crystal began many days ago that will benefit many children. While I would never deny the family or any posters here who want to participate in this balloon release, it is NEVER, EVER a wonderful thing to release balloons! More than 99% of those balloons end up in places that pollute the environment, they kill thousands of birds and other wildlife every year when the animals become entangled in them or eat them by accident! Even if 1000's of balloons for Haleigh are released, only about 1% of them will be ever be touched or picked up by any human anywhere, and nearly all of those will be thrown away immediately. Releasing balloons in any area of Florida, it is nearly a 100% guarantee that they will end up in the ocean where no one will ever find them or see them, let alone find the rolled up and soaked paper the poster is printed out on!

The school supplies will go directly to children who need them and to children who knew and cared for Haleigh! What a wonderful way for them to remember her and honor her on her birthday. Personally, I would choose to donate to a positive effort, rather than pollute the environment and kill innocent animals, but that is JMOO!

I guess you skipped over the post I made about latex balloons. I think it's wonderful that the Cummings want to honor her birthday the way they want too and well as the Sheffields/Griffis. I would also hope that Crystal would go release some balloons with the Cummings as well.
