Julianne-
Actually Keith Urban was in rehab in 1998 for a cocaine/alcohol addiction, he is not just a recovering alcoholic.

"In the late 90's Urban battled an addiction to cocaine. After reaching a personal rock bottom in 1998, he became determined to give up the habit and checked into Cumberland Heights, a treatment center in Nashville."

To say addicts are "In many instances, a recovering person of any sort is a great choice because they've touched darkness and chosen light"
is fine for you but honestly I would not choose a person who had a habit in life to deal with the reality of life by avoiding dealing with it by using a substance that will hurt their family, it would be different if they just hurt themselves.

We have quite a few alcoholics and addicts in our family. I also worked at a rehab even though personally I have never experimented with drugs and what I saw there is enough for me to choose not to be involved with someone with it even if I had to stay single for the rest of my life. It also bothers me that they are out on the roads with me and my loved ones.

My family is chock full of addicts - can't throw a brick without hitting one, I like to say, because it's true! I'm a recovering drug addict. My experience of addiction has just not been black and white. My alcoholic father was/is a much more stable influence in my life than my non-addicted mother....many of the non-addicts in my sphere are way more whacked than the addicts - not such a strange phenomenom, as addiction is truly a family disease.

I don't want to sugarcoat the pain. My father's drinking is hands-down the biggest sadnesses of my childhood....and yet, there's a lot more there than pain. Like I said - it's just not black and white. I would much rather align myself with a recovering person on some sort of examined path than, well, than a lot of other different personality types. But that's just me - not saying it's for everyone.

In my opinion every single person I have ever met has a habit in life that helps them check out when things get tough - that's just human nature. Now it's true, some habits are less painful and harmful than others!

Your family sounds like mine, most of the addicts however are the men. I did just find out though the other night that one of my aunt is doing meth! She has always smoked weed, but now meth! I am horrified, she left her hubby and kids and hooked up with some younger guy and is running like she is 18. She is 35. I am so worried for her.

I hope they will be too. I feel for people in the public eye and a lot of the b.s. they have to put up with.

Well, that settles it then since everyone knows that stars on tour never have women on the side. HAHAHAHA

For once we agree, DK. I'm always a bit surprised when posters make statements such as "I don't think Keith is good for Nichole."

Unless they are close friends of yours, how would you possibly know?

Anyone with experience with the media, p.r., show business, celebrities, etc., will tell you the "public image" of a celeb is a product of many forces, not the least of which is outright fabrication.
That's true, we arent close friends so how would we know?

But we can see it is kinda a mis-match, him the troubled rock singer with the colourful past, her the Hollywood star that doesn't step a toe out of place...but that's not to say it can't work- but I think they will have to work hard to make it last....4 months in and the cracks were apparent for the world to see..
Nic took a gamble, South I hear what you are saying and really liked when you said a recovering person of any sort is a great choice because they've touched darkness and chosen light but sometimes they revert back to the darkness and that's sad to watch.
I think relationships where one person is an addict and the other isn't are really hard work.
Having said that, noone feels sorrier for Nic than me, I was disappointed right along with her when he went into rehab and I wish them both the best for the new year, if they both really love each other and want it bad enough, it will work.

If she'd quit stuffing her face with botox and other awful plastic surgery, maybe the media would leave her alone. She's kind of boring (in a good way) so IMO, the only reason for the media to bother her is to see what she's done to her face lately.

I don't know if she's had any surgery, but I definitely think she's a botox-devotee. My opinion only but she is un-naturally wrinkle free for a white woman her age.

Her lips definitely look different - I don't know why she didn't keep them the way they were.

AS far as skin, I think she just has that fine, English pale skin. Doesn't look like she goes out in the sun much, but I imagine she has a few Botox injections here and there.

Decide for yourself. Me, I'm going with plastic surgery and/or botox. That is way more than getting her eyebrows shaped or makeup artistry IMO.
