Absolutely disgusting. Not that people can't be cruel... just that this story smelled "off".
Most people in restaurants generally focus on their food and talking to each other; and in my opinion the diners aren't looking around the room for someone to complain about.
While eating out, my husband and I have noticed people with service dogs before and that didn't offend us ,either. ( Off topic --Our own two cats get good care and they bring us alot of happiness.)

My opinion is this grandma should be facing charges. And I hope that little Victoria receives help and that the money from KFC goes towards HER recovery !

Biggest benefit from my point of view is that KFC has proven to be a class act in their handling of this difficult situation.

I'm glad to see everyone here is not buying the story until the real facts are known.

It is very easy to take a grain of truth and blow it up so big that everyone assumes everything written/said is fact. In reality we don't have the facts other than a few that point away from this story being true.

If the people in the media would have done a bit of fact checking this story may not have been printed as the gospel truth.

It is very heartwarming to see the outpouring for this sweet little girl. From KFC on down to thousands of anonymous people on the Internet. Everyone wants to help this sweetheart and that is a fact that is truly wonderful

I think Grannie is soon going to be facing some felony criminal charges. And if they aren't already involved, I think that child protective services will be involved monitoring this child's safety and exploitative potential.

IMO, both grandparents should not have any access to this child.

Something I didn't want to say, because I wanted to give the family the benefit of the doubt. But with that's come to light...did anyone else noticed when they reached their goal on the fund page, they increased the goal, and kept increasing as they met goals? It seemed a little shady to me, at the time. More so now.

This really caught my attention. Sickening what the employees have had to endure.

I really hope KFC corporate goes to bat for their employees, both with public messages of support and some financial compensation. Sheesh-- these are very low paid workers who have had real discrimination and damages because of this woman's lies.

It's probably not worth it for anyone to sue Grannie, since I suspect this family has essentially no assets. (She BETTER face criminal charges, IMO.)

But is sure would be nice to see KFC come out with a big show of support for their abused workers. Like full page ads in major news outlets highlighting their workers good work, and also highlighting the abuse they have suffered because of the hoax/ fraud. Maybe some scholarship money or something. The KFC workers in that town should be compensated, IMO.

After it went viral, employees and managers at both Jackson locations have faced death threats, have had drinks thrown at them through the drive-thru window and have faced constant verbal harassment, the source confirmed.

One employee told the Leader-Call on June 20 that it was the first day since the firestorm erupted that he would wear his KFC work shirt in public.

I wish there was a way to force the family to put the $$ they raised into a trust for this poor little girl. She's going to need all of the help she can get.

I hate to say I told you so but I knew this didn't happen the way the grandmother said it did but I have to admit that even I didn't think she was so stupid that she didn't even go to KFC and all but fabricated the whole thing.
I even talked about the Go Fund Me account, before I knew it was already up and running.
I'd like to say grandma's heart was in the right place but I don't think so. Yes, I am sure the little girl would have benefited from the money but I think grandma was planning on being the biggest beneficiary.
I also got the impression that grandma had another motive besides greed. Since apparently it was her ex-husband's dogs that did the damage I think she wanted to make sure he was hurt in the process.
I really think Children's Services needs to take hold of that child and make sure she gets her needs met and that grandma doesn't get her hands on one dime. I think anyone who donated should have the option of getting their money back, the money going to a legitimate cause like a children's hospital or the money handled in a secure way that doesn't allow anyone to have access except an advocate for the child who has nothing to gain.
I also think grandma should be looking at charges for fraud at the very lest. And KFC should get their lawyers after her as well. Her actions should be punished not rewarded.

I agree this child was in danger for a long time, taking her to a house with all those pit bull dogs.

Playing on people's knee-jerk reaction to a sad story. This grandma is a scammer.

Funding babies at sea, felons and a whole host of other bad behavior scammers see how easy people will part with their money.
Don't have to rob face to face the internet is a cash register.

OK...I'm all set for the utter disgust that was flung at the KFC employee and KFC itself, to be hurled at the white trash people who wouldn't think twice about trying to destroy a company, as well as the potential for lost jobs, so they could raise money for their...."cause"...whatever that may be.

Don't forget people who leave/forget children in their cars while they go to work or job interviews.
Even they get money collected for them.
Apparently being neglectful of ones child pays $$$.

I think it's despicable what the adults did, and I hope that any money raised goes into a trust fund for the little girl. She is a child in need and the adults' actions should not detract from her situation.

The adults scammed people out of that money. It should all be given back. Not that I don't feel for this child, but I have a feeling that any money put into a trust fund, they would find some way to get their hands on, either when she is allowed access to the fund, or beforehand (like buying things "against" the fund -- using it for collateral). Perhaps a new fund can be started, based on honesty, not a hoax, that people could contribute to.

KFC is still giving her $30,000 for her treatment. And there are a lot of kids out there who need treatment of one kind or another, who won't be as lucky as this little girl (in terms of getting a $30,000 gift).

totally agree!! I believe all the money should be returned to the donors aside from the corporate donation that is set up for medical costs.

if there was extra money gramma may wield her influence for new tats or worse

I knew this couldn't be true. What I didn't expect was how brazen the grandmother actually was! My God!! They weren't even there!! Grandma KNEW they were going to find out it wasn't true and still didn't care and took as much money and offers of plastic surgery she could get until it hit the fan! DISGUSTING!!

CPS most definitely needs to get involved! The State needs to freeze all money donated until they can sort this out. I am happy that KFC is not punishing Victoria for her grandmother's ill deed, but I think the people who donated their own money should have an option to get their money back until it is sorted out and if they want to donate to Victoria in a legit manner, then they should have that choice!

Grandmother should also be criminally charged! Extortion, grand theft, child abuse, etc... I have no sympathy for this woman!! Victoria was HURT more by this stunt then she would have been hurt by her scars! Which are not that bad!

I knew I was going to be upset when it hit the fan that she was lying... what I didn't expect was being so terribly sick about it... mostly because the employees were actually physically assaulted (throwing drinks is a form of assault, IMO), verbally threatened, etc...

i too thought "hoax" when i first read about this... couldn't imagine anyone being so mean to an obviously severely injured child... i hope grams is charged with several counts of fraud.
