Did anyone see that documentary on HBO about plastic surgeries gone bad? It was on last night. It showed 3 people who had complications from typical elective surgeries and all three people's lives are ruined now, medically speaking (mentally/emotionally too). I hope I never forget that doc., in case I'm ever tempted to fix something. My health is something I don't take for granted.

I would never put a toxin in my body to erase or fight aging. Yeah, it does erase the wrinkles but IMO wrinkles look better than that plastic freak look. NOTHING looks good or natural about botox abusers.
I saw that. You mean the one where the doctor bought the full strength botox and tried to dilute it himself? He then injected the hubby and wife and I think his own wife too.
They almost died.
I live in the land of Botox. I am one of the few that hasn't done it yet. I take care of my skin in other ways and so still at 49 I don't look too bad. very few wrinkles.
But I am not afraid to try it. I am only afraid i will like it and it will cost me a fortune:)

No, I don't think that one was in it. One guy had had about 4 nose jobs and had no cartilage left (ala Michael Jackson), had to graft some from his temple; one lady had lipo and had her intestinses punctured...infection set in, which led to her being bed-ridden, then bed sores and she ended up with BOTH legs amputated above the knee; another lady had a face lift/neck lift and it was botched and now she can't swallow or breathe properly. She was the most messed up, mentally.

If one stays out of the sun, doesn't smoke, and takes care of her skin like using moisturizer, IMO there is no need for something like botox. I'm 35 and I do all the above and last week I was told 2x in one day that I look about 10 years younger. The people I told my age to were shocked. It was the best compliment I'd had in ages; the only thing that could've been better is if I'd been carded. LOL

Good for you Shopper :)
Genes are important too I think.....
I'm not much older than you, have smoked, sunbaked and have always used relatively cheap moisturizers.....and I get told I don't look my age either.....don't know about 10 years younger though lol, got 7 the other week was happy with that :p
Admittedly I don't put my face in the sun when sunbaking...but the weather here makes it hard not to get sun on your face just walking around.
I'd be interested to see what my Mum looks like for her age.

That is a horrible story!I thought it was a botox story..sorry..

OH I agree with what you say about skin care. I was even in a magazine article recently about how I take care of my skin.:) I was the "40's" representative. I am over the top on my skin care and it really pays off. I have a very youthful appearance.
That's why i haven't bothered. i really don't need it. but one day I might!

ETA: My mom has alwsy taken really good care of her skin .Never set foot in the sun.. She is 81 and recently got carded for her flu shot. They said she had to prove she was over 65:D

Do you use Dermatologica or Arbonne products? I keep trying new, expensive products but my skin is just dry. Supposedly some of the products help build new collegen, though.

My arms are weathered from playing alot of tennis years ago, but my face still looks pretty good since I wore a hat. I have fair skin that burns in about 10 minutes. some of it is just heredity I think, and drinking lots of water and eating healthily.

I use some dermalogica products. But I mostly use
PCA products, retin-a by the boatload, and Perricone Alpha Lipoic Acid.
I also have regular chemical peels. I have had to work very very hard to get decent looking skin. You would not beleive it if you saw what I put on my skin:blushing:
But every so often for whatever reason, I can't use everything and my skin starts to look bad within a week.
I look at pictures of my skin 15-20 years ago and compare it to now and it looks 10x better now than when was 30ish.

I've been getting microdermabrasion, and use the products. But how do you find the time? I'll use somethng for a while and then start forgetting. I'm very "erratic". I'm lucky to get my teeth brushed at night. I've always been very low maintenance; I do get a pedicure now. I can just wash my hair and it dries naturally wavy. I have not one grey hair! Knock on wood. If my legs aren't shaved, nobody notices because it's so light. LOL No waxing for me. I forgot what the thread topic is.

My mother's skin has always been great but at 81 now her mind is going. It's Always Something!

I guess I'd rather have a good mind than good skin. That's why I keep it exercised at all times. :)

I see the difference if i stop, so that is enough to keep me motivated every night and every morning.
I haven't had a manicure or pedicure in years. But I have my grey roots covered every 3 weeks. Whatever trips your trigger missy.
I love microdermabrasion!
good mind good skin? I want it all baby!

You must be a perfectionist.

What about my saggy 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, do I have to get those fixed too? Patch, patch, patch when you get old. You'll find out. You won't have time to read a book, cook dinner, or do anything; you'll just be living in the spa or plastic surgeon's office.

You know, I walked by several men and not one of them noticed when I got restylane and botox. It's very discouraging. :boohoo:

okay I guess we have gone off topic too far.
But I will say I am far from a perfectionist. I do care for my hair and skin though. I like my saggy 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 thank you very much! I earned them!

Also O/T, but I don't think anyone can compare to Priscilla Presley in the bad plastic surgery competition. She could bring home the gold.
Oh, I have to agree!!!! She looks like a FREAK now. :(
