Kindergartener AvaLynn's Eyes Blackened at School, Mother Gets Runaround

  • #21
This is exceptionally hard to believe. I really can HARDLY believe this child came back to class looking like this after recess and not one single thing was done about it.

I do believe, in a tustle at the top of a slide if she was blocking and refusing to slide another immature kindergartner might have kicked her. I've seen kids get kicked and pushed and bitten for that kind of thing.

But for this to have gone UNNOTICED or UNTREATED by school personnel - I actually don't believe it.

But who knows. It can be a wacky world.

One thing that does seem clear - those injuries are not from one accidental fall off a slide onto her head and face. That's at LEAST two separate blows to her face.

I find it hard to believe that her injuries are the result of a kindergarten playground spat. I'm not sure if a regular kindergartner has the strength to do this to another child. Mom needs to get LE or a lawyer involved and demand some answers. Quit playing on FB pages and go fund me and find out who beat this child.

I think another child repeatedly kicking her in the face with shoes on, while she held on to the bars at the top of the slide could make those kind of marks. I'm still thinking this is a VERY VERY odd story, and any K teacher, hall monitor, bus driver, etc., would really make a huge deal of this if she looked like that. Is recess at the very end of the day there, and these bruises weren't fully developed before she left school? It's such a complete surprise that NOTHING seemed to be done about this. I do think fights between kindergartners aren't considered legal matters, as a 5 year old wouldn't be charged with a crime, but for NO ONE to have sent this child to the nurse and called the mom just strikes me as unbelievable.

I'm left thinking . . . what's the rest of the story?

The injuries on the girl look too severe to be inflicted by another child.

I don't understand why the mother or some other emergency contact wasn't called immediately. Isn't that negligence? Isn't that why parents fill out all that info at the start of the school year?

I want to know as well. All schools have an emergency number for students. Why wasn't the mom called asap?
I smell a cover up...... by someone.

I swear it's a good thing my younglins are grown because I'd open a can of whoop azz at that school if my child came home looking like that.

how many security cameras in this school?
where are they located?
were classmates questioned? omg im just livid.

The school did call her mother. They told her AvaLynn fell off the slide. There is a lot more info on the Facebook page and the crowd-sourced fundraising page linked to it.

Someone reposted something another mother supposedly wrote on her own page, saying that her son is in the same class and AvaLynn was kicked. I'd really like to know why the school is denying the mother's account, and why the police aren't doing more. Someone suggested the little boy's parents are influential, but someone else ridiculed that (kind of suggesting it's a lower income area). Something doesn't add up here. I can't figure out if it's a coverup, or a hoax (although there's got to be some degree of truth, for those pictures to exist), but I too want justice for AvaLynn!

IMO it's obvious to me whoever was supposed to be watching these children wasn't.

I was ready to jot down names and count down the days till 2 little boys became legal adults to tear into them after an incident with my daughter in Kinder. One held ( locked her arms behind her back) her while the other one punched her leaving a small bruise under her eye. It happened at a time when teachers attention was on another student. She didn't tell when things calmed down b/c she thought she would get in trouble b/c she thought it was a fight.

Had I found her at school like this I would give them fair warning you better have the police here tomorrow when I come back to handle this.

What kind of incident on the playground equipment can do this? Are the tether balls made of steal?

This is hard to believe. ( not calling it fake but I hope it is ) I know teachers can not see everything but to not hear this going on? Did she take it like a champ b/c I would have been screaming bloody murder? Something is not right here.

I am not sure how it could be fake. In what way? I don't see any way that she could have been assaulted at home, but somehow blamed on the school. And I doubt the photo is photoshopped.

MOO after reading details on AvaLynn's FB page:

This baby girl was on the ladder portion of the slide. The bully turned toward AvaLynn and kicked her in the face often enough that she fell to the ground screaming and crying in pain and fear. She was bleeding from her nose and mouth and taken to the school office. The school nurse was attending another school which is a dumb school policy to share a nurse. The school office personnel phoned the mother. Her mom took her to the ER, followed by a trip to the baby girl's pediatrician.

In one picture on the FB pg, AvaLynn appears to have a semi-circular bruise near the right corner of her mouth that I assume could have been from the heel of a shoe. The family knows who did this to AvaLynn. The family does not want the child abuser singled out, berated or teased which I don't understand because the bully could be a 5yo psychopath. The family does want the perps home life investigated. They want cameras installed on the playground and a full-time nurse at the school.

This is not a hoax, IMO. I graduated from Pascagoula High School and lived there for many years. My mom used to work at this school. . My money is on the other child being related to someone in school admin or a teacher. As far as I know there are no "influential' students at this school. There are two sought after elementary schools in Pascagoula SD and this is not one of them.I also do not think the kids were properly supervised.

It is a VERY low-income area. There is a walmart. And a Chevron oil refinery. And a dog food factory. And a mcdonalds. There is some other stuff, too. Like a bar that serves warm beer.

She needs a personal injury attorney, imo.

The photo definitely isn't photoshopped because there are numerous photos showing the healing process on that Facebook page. There's definitely something shady going on with the school not investigating.

When things like this happen and ******** pages pop up right away, it casts doubt. I don't understand the need for money right now, but I'm sure the intent wasn't bad, I think it's just a part of the technological age we live in.

Didn't other kids see what was going on? Why didn't they yell for help? or go get help?

IM looking at the fb page now. I'm very concerned about this being done by a child......

Right? I think that's why my hinky meter started blaring. The go fund me thing and then no police investigation? I will also add that if this were done by a kid, that kid has some SERIOUS anger issues and needs to be removed from the school immediately.

My first-born goes to his first day of kindy tomorrow. :( If this ever happened to him, god forbid, heads would ROLL.

I don't consider Pascagoula to be a very low income area. There are varying degrees of income levels. Median household income is higher than the state average according to census data linked above. Pascagoula median income is also greater than that of Mobile, Al. Pascagoula has a large shipyard which provides employment, an oil refinery, a chemical plant, and other industrial businesses.

According to the FB page the mother has hired a lawyer out of Jackson, MS. The lack of a police investigation does not surprise me. This is not a high crime rate area. All MOO based on having lived and worked in Pascagoula.

Yeah my ex husband worked at chevron so we were there quite a bit. I will say that my vantage point is totally different being from NY and having grown up in a very high cost of living area. I really do miss the gulf coast. When my husband retires I am totally going to get him back down there.

I saw this on Facebook as well. The fact that the school took the dismissive stance, despite such serious injuries to AL is troubling. Worse yet, local LE refused to follow up.

IMO, this begs the question : Why?

When a five year old is hurt this severely on school grounds, administration owes it to her to conduct a thorough, full and objective investigation. If they don't have the ability to do so, (perhaps as alluded to upthread because of the influence of certain members of their small community), then call in an outside agency.

Do whatever it takes to get to the truth of the matter. AL's physical scars may heal over time, if she gets the care she needs.

However, she has also been traumatized emotionally and psychologically. I read on the J4AL page that the 🤬🤬🤬 account was set up to defray medical expenses (specialists, therapy, etc.), and for lost wages for her Mom to take her to be at AL's side as she recovers.

IMO, and as a mother, I can only imagine the stress and guilt AL's mom is experiencing - every time she looks at her daughter's face, into her eyes, or has to answer a tough question (like, "Mommy, why did this happen to me?"

It is our greatest honor and duty to protect our children. We also entrust them to our schools. When something like this hsppens, I believe we question our decisions. We wish we could take their pain away.

ItMV, it is clear AL, her Mom, family, and supporters have a tough road ahead. I wish them the strength they will need in the days, weeks, months (and likely years :sigh: ) ahead, as they fight for #Justice4AvaLynn

:praying:

I don't see the issue with the donation page. The mother says they will be used for medical and legal fees, and whatever is left will be donated to anti-bullying funds. As for the FB page, you need your cause to go viral so MSM picks it up, and hopefully, puts more pressure on the school and authorities.
