I like a little bit of everything. I enjoy fine dining, museums and music festivals. I know that there is an Indian Res. somewhere near there. I love Native Amer. art. I love to star gaze and have my solitude. I take life moment by moment when I can. I can live without the scorpions, snakes and spiders. but the unique mammals, I love to learn more about. oh and the horny toads, which variety were you talking about? the two legged variety or the other one.

The ones that shoot blood out of their eyes. lol

they kinda look like bearded dragons..

I understand. I count at the countdown thread sometimes when I need to wind down.

I have some OT questions for you- KY stuff- but will wait and ask when it isn't so late... It's 1:35am for me.
Need to take some sominex so I can get some sleep. I napped late morning and between my insomina, not sleeping a full night even when I fall asleep early, napping doesn't help.

I'll throw this OT at ya. When I was growing up my parents always took us to the Bluegrass festivals and I grew up knowing of Bill Monroe well.

Hi Cubby. You said that you had some questions for me? well post away. tty soon. :blowkiss:

I was going to ask you about KY, more if you had grown up there. I had a roomie back in the mid 90's who grew up there. I used to rent my second bedroom out before I had my son. He was born about 69 or 70 but was so poor growing up they didn't even have a tv. He works for the railroad, Union Pacific. He came back with a gallon of moonshine once so I got to try it. Wasn't terribly bad. Used it to top off cranapple and vodka, lol. He did tell me too that the way to know it was 'good' was if it burned blue on a plate rather than burning yellow or orange, lol. Told me most of the old timers who made it were dying off........ The roomie was from near the KY/TN border somewhere......

ETA: Back then when he lived here, he told me his parents were pretty prejudiced and that he had never seen a black person until he moved to the Chicago area. Also told me his town or county was older than the state of IL AND that the last black person who was in his town was tarred and feathered in 1973. How messed up is that?

Sick!!!! When I came to KY. I found out that my mom's biological family is so racist. :o my grandpa told me that if I ever brought a black man home, they would disown me. Talk about making me want to retch. So I never told him about my first non-celebrity crush. Kurt was mixed and I thought that was so hot cause it looked like he had a beautiful deep dark tan year-round.I have always wanted golden skin like that. I am a mutt by most standards but I inherited the pale-I'm-Irish-so-I-have-to-burn,peel and-never-tan skin. I am just glad that I don't have the natural red-head's freckles.

one of my uncles could probably tell you where to get some real good moonshine. I like Jack straight mostly, but right now i am drinking Disarono on the rocks. I can't stand mixed drinks, they taste like candy. If I wanted candy, I would go to the candy store. I would love to try moonshine, but the quality of the "Dukes of Hazard" era has greatly diminished. I say "if your gonna drink then drink the best.":laugh:

I don't want any moonshine, just wanted to mention I had the opportunity to try it in the mid 90's.

The whole really rural prejudice thing does freak me out being from the Chicago area (burbs). Some of what I saw in rural lousianna mid 90's freaked me out too.

Hi ya'll!!! I have a BIG mouth and have a ridiculous and sometimes dangerous tendency to champion the underdog in any situation. I've always believed I would NOT fare well living in the south - or even just passing through! I would, however, welcome the opportunity to try some moonshine, having heard so much about it.... SONGS have been written about it FGS! :)

When I was visiting my godson in Louisianna the streets rolled up at 8pm. lol. It was really the middle of nowhere and 25 miles to the nearest Walmart, one of only a handful of stores even 25 miles away. Very different than having a half dozen stores open 24 hours within a 5-10 min drive.

I was able to try homemade wine while in LA. Wasn't that great. Tasted like Sherry.

If you have the opportunity to try moonshine sometime Fairy, if you know and trust the person, I would try it.. It tastes just like grain alcohol if you have ever tried that. I think it was everclear or something that was the grain alcohol I remember trying as a teen. lol...

My dad has some A-1 moonshine in a mason jar in the liqiour cabinet!!!

straight from Kentucky I tried it for the 1st time when I was a teenager!!!

It doesnt take much to get you toasted LOL.... Its stronger than anything I have ever ever tasted UGGGGHHHH

Last time I tried some about 4 yrs ago I held my nose and swallowed.....

My family are all from Kentucky the far south eastern part, its a dry county.

I remember one time my uncle putting moonshine in a spoon and lighting it on fire and then drinking it I dont know what the purpose for that is......

Mondays just suck in Chicago for diversion days... as my beloved have off days on Mondays..... So until tomorrow I have to hang onto a Bears win.... and it's September.....and we are on a losing streak.... ;(

And I am a JERK who is accused of 'stalking' because after 2+ years I have actually left a message for an email addy for my sons bio idiots aka PTB or pass the buck C's atty to put our agreement in writing... When I told his father, almost 50 who has my family snowed and believes his lies... I was told that was stalking... and half my family is not talking to me because of this....

Was there a reason I stayed close to home and in touch with fam? ARRRRR!

GO CUBBIES!

In 35 min the oldies show comes on..... Dick Biondi! Ok, who here is old enough to get into music from the early 60's?
