So technically is he still considered "missing"?
Most cities and states in the US do not require a FOID (firearm owner id) card. Chicago is the only place I've had to get one. For him to just check a firearm and fly he'd have to be a Turkish citizen with a concealed carry permit. Otherwise, in most countries in Europe and surrounding countries, the request to bring a firearm into the country goes through the consulate and that can take MONTHS. It sounds like he left with little planning.Couple questions:
I feel a bit naive asking this, but why would one planning to join the French Foreign Legion fly into Istanbul?
(And who gave that info I wonder? Was it credible or just a possibility they came up with on their own?)
According to reports from LE, he took all of his weapons (guns) with him prior to leaving Kansas. Did he sell them prior to flying out? What are the procedures for gun ownership/travel in regards to the place(s) he was heading? I don't imagine being LE not on official business or simply having a FOID card means you can bring your guns anywhere outside the US, or does it?
Agreed. I can't imagine the hurt, the shock, and the horror his family must be suffering, and somehow while his wife is figuring out how to make it financially, she also has to explain his absence to FIVE children who are undoubtedly wondering where "Daddy" is. I hope they find him soon. What a jerk!
Or if there are any more victims. This terrible situation keeps getting worse, and we don't even know the extent of the trauma of the victim and their family that was caused by Mr. Chandler's alleged crimes.
This guy is not very bright. The only way you can enlist in the French Foreign Legion is to go to one of their recruiting centers in France. The Foreign legion does not facilitate any administrative steps taken by applicants to obtain a visa or a residence permit in France.Couple questions:

Turkey also has an extradition treaty with the US, so it really doesn't make sense on any level.Couple questions:

I haven't seen anything. The last update from the Sheriff was that they were no longer asking for the public's help as it was determined that he was outside the U.S. MOOBumping.
Any updates? I take it this guy is still on the run/possibly overseas?

Bumping.

I wonder if DC tried to get to France, and the French Legion, or if he disappeared to some other country near Turkey? I would guess there are Christian militia fighting the ISIL/ISIS that wouldn't ask any questions of someone who wanted to join their fight, or if he got in contact with the wrong group, and got killed.
