Doctor killed in E. Wichita stabbing, suspect in custody

One person is killed in an east Wichita stabbing reported about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the victim in this case is a doctor with the Holistic Psychiatric Services office at 625 N. Carriage Parkway, near Central and Edgemoor.

Update 10 p.m.:
Police say the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a doctor in east Wichita is now in custody. We're told the suspect was arrested at the Wichita Country Club near 13th and Rock Road.

Man arrested in death of Wichita doctor held on $1 million bond

Arrest records with the Sedgwick County Sheriff"s Office show the man arrested for first-degree murder in the death of Dr. Achutha Reddy is held a the Sedgwick County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Records show 21-year-old Umar Dutt was arrested Wednesday night and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail a little before 1 a.m. Thursday on a charge of first-degree murder.

Oh geez. I just found out we know who this kid and the doctor are. Umar was in my daughter's class until her sophmore year (it is a K-12 school) and the doctor's son graduated with our daughter and played soccer with our son. I don't know why I didn't put all of that together until now.
