Very curious about this quote from one of the earliest articles linked:

Other neighbors say the people who lived there mostly kept to themselves and they are saddened and shaken by what has happened.

"My mind is blown. I definitely knew there was something going on, but I was assuming it was more of an altercation. The fact that someone has actually lost their life is really, really crazy," neighbor Nicole Pottroff said.

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2014/jan/20/police-wont-explain-18-hour-delay-reporting-missin/

Delays in obtaining a search warrant, and a wait for KBI crime scene investigators to arrive, caused the Lawrence Police Department to wait nearly 18 hours before notifying the public about the disappearance of a Lawrence woman who may be linked to the city's latest homicide, according to police officials...

When asked to explain the delay, police spokesman Sgt. Trent McKinley told the Journal-World that officers initially entered the home without a warrant. After discovering Sasko's body, they needed to contact the District Attorney's office to obtain a warrant to conduct a thorough search.

He also said offers were in "a holding pattern for quite a while," waiting for crime scene technicians from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to arrive.

I'm positive that's her. She is friends with a female Sasko who looks to be about her age (19 or so).

She doesn't seem to be now....

Nope, they're still friends. I had to scroll for a bit but I found her.

The possible relative of the deceased has a very locked down FB with just her photos available to the public. I can't see her friends list. Not finding any social media for the deceased man.

I'm rather surprised that LE isn't a bit more aggressive in this case. Sarah's roommate is dead and she is missing, I'd expect at least an endangered missing status.

Instead the headlines read "local teen sought after homicide victim discovered". That would lead the casual observer to believe that SG is a suspect. IMO.

So SG missed dinner with family on January 14th, and that's why she was reported missing. But her closest family member is her 23 year old sister? And no one will go into her relationship with Sasko. This is a really odd case. If she was taken by the person who harmed Sasko, she's in serious danger and needs to be found immediately. If she harmed Sasko, she needs to be apprehended immediately. Yet it seems that the only person looking for her is her 23 year old sister! This is beyond bizarre.

This statement by LE on what the holdup was...seems odd. How did they know this young lady was not there? So once they found the man dead, they couldn't see if there was anybody else there? Or did they check the house and then decide not to proceed??

Quite possibly the key to the case: the dog mentioned in the LJW article(s). If someone from the street entered, shot Sasko to death, took his car and kidnapped McLinn, the dog, said in one LJW article to be a chocolate Lab, would almost certainly not have been taken. As the dog is said to be no longer on the premises, we might assume that it was taken when a missing person fled.

(Of course, other arrangements might have been in place, the dog no longer on the premises at the time of Sasko's death, etc.)

Fairly sure that, along with her sister, the Kansas law enforcement community, from local police and county sheriffs to the state highway patrol and the KBI, is also looking for Sarah McLinn.

Excellent point. Also, none of the articles mention anything else missing from the house other than Sarah, the car, and the dog. IMO nobody came to the house and killed Sasko in order to kidnap Sarah and steal the car and dog. So what was the motive? Jealousy? Is there money missing that LE would not know about?

Edited as I think more about this: could Sasko have had debts that no one knew about? Perhaps the perp allowed Sarah to escape with the car and dog, or Sasko knew ahead of time and sent her to a safe place? It sounds like Sarah was not close to her parents so maybe she is laying low?

Neighbors of Sasko and McLinn believe someone had been home Friday morning [17th] because the trash barrel had been taken out and then brought back in from the curb.
Someone alive at the residence as late as Friday 17 December. Sasko's body was found around midnight that night by police investigating a missing report about McLinn.
Police have tried to track the activity on McLinn’s ATM card and cell phone but have come up empty handed.

This case is so bizarre, sadly it seems like there is no good outcome for this case. Either Sarah killed Sasko and fled (but no activity on cell or cc's) or was killed or kidnapped.

I'm wondering if Sarah was/is married. The people on her Facebook with the last name of Gonzales are all located in Topeka, which is where she indicates on Facebook is where she is from.

and there is another missing woman in Kanasa right now. No idea if Lawrence is near St. George. (Locals? is it?)

(Jane Peterson is the other missing woman. Her thread can be found here: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232486"]KS Jane Peterson,56, St. George, 19 January 2014 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame])

This one here though, this one is so odd.

St. George is about 75 miles west of Lawrence.
