You're right. That's odd. His wife also hasn't visited this WS page since Tuesday night so maybe she found out where he is.

I can tell you that my friends and family in St Francis are just as baffled by all of this. There is no new info floating around town. Not even a rumor. Lol!
@Ssschu have your friends & family know of any update?

no, it isn't. St Francis is on the west side. KC Missouri on the east. Google Maps route shows They are 450 miles apart.

@SimplyCass and @alexwood Thanks so much for the quick response and the clarity...I’m in Canada. So glad this is not Jesse but ... what on earth is going on with this case ... no updates for days! Moo

No one has heard anything, which is really strange in such a small town. It's strange that his wife and the sheriff went completely silent.

This is a strange case. If he had a deer stand within walking distance, shouldn't police have found it by now? And if he walked out to go deer hunting, wouldn't at least one if his guns be with him? Why the lack of urgency? He could have had a hunting accident!

I don't know, iQuill. No reports of any searches going on, but that could be on account of it being hunting season and too dangerous for searchers. Just a guess. I'm kind of leaning towards self-harm. But, whatever happened, I feel he is no longer of this world. Sorry to say. (My opinion only.)

That could be the case @alexwood and if so, how devastating for his family.

I am from Rawlins County, adjacent to Cheyenne County in Kansas and I know the area well. Saint Francis is about 40 minutes from me. I know the building he lives in and I have looked at street and aerial views; however, I will not divulge that address or any information about the house that his wife did not. He would have had to walk about three blocks to get to the main highway. From there, there is a lot of nothing. St. Francis is the last place to get gas or use a restroom if you are taking back roads to Denver.

If he went east instead of west, there is only Bird City and McDonald (very small and remote, nearly ghost towns) and then Atwood, where I am located. Nebraska is much of the same.

There are very few trees and most of the surrounding area is farmland and relatively flat in that area. Fall harvest was completed by that time and ditches have been mowed by county crews. It would be difficult to hide. There are multiple abandoned houses, barns and other structures around all of northwest Kansas. Just to provide context, it would be possible to find an old farmhouse or out-building to hide out in (but why, if he was already in a rather remote area, and only on the weekends?).

There is no way someone could wander around on foot or walk along the highway without generating a great deal of interest from community members. I will attach a screen shot from my local sheriff’s office this fall, regarding a hitchhiker. They got so many calls, they were tired of it and created a Facebook post.

People notice new faces around the area. There are a few more visitors than usual due to hunting season and the holidays, but not as many as previous years. Saint Francis is considered one of the top hunting spots in the nation.

I don't understand why there is no urgency. I was shut down on the county's Facebook post when I inquired about an organized search party.

There have been several suicides in Rawlins County this year, including two young men within weeks of each other. It isn't commonplace for someone with that kind of plan to go hide, though. He also let his small children believe he was going to be home in a matter of days.

He also doesn't seem like the type that was into drugs, but there is, of course, illegal drug activity in the area, particularly in Nebraska. He could have been a victim of foul play, but those types of crimes are usually pretty sloppy. Local law enforcement likes to call in the KBI to assist whenever it appears there has been a murder. The intruders would have to have been familiar with the camera in order to get in and out undetected. They would have also risked being seen by any number of people living nearby.

This case has bothered me since I first heard about it. I don't know what to think, but I can't imagine what his wife must be going through.

@Klatulip thanks for sharing!
Sounds like Saint Francis is much like the small towns that surround the area where I live.

I too don’t know what to think about this particular case.
It went from being shared on several media outlets, LE being very thorough with constant updates to people being told unless they have seen Jesse after 8:40 on Nov 22, LE didn’t need to hear from them, to total silence.

I hate to speculate, but IMO I feel the outcome isn’t what we are all wanting. I pray I’m wrong.

I think part of the LE response is that they were being called constantly by people letting them know they had seen him before, so LE felt the need to specify.

That came from them directly. I do write for the Rawlins County newspaper- but we are just a weekly publication. I just wanted to make sure I could print his image and basic description without causing a problem. I wanted to get his picture out to all the people without social media or who hadn't heard.

I got several calls from people who had no clue, so it's not being widely publicized around here. That is alarming to me.

Here’s a little background info on Jesse

upload_2020-12-12_1-25-44.jpeg

Jesse grew up in the foothills of the Rocky Mountain hunting and fishing with his father and 5 brothers. After exploring every corner of his home state of Colorado, he expanded his adventures to all over the US and eventually Canada, and Africa in 2013. Turkey hunting became his passion and he has finished his 1st slam with 23 three quarter slams ready to be completed. He is an electrician by trade, and has a lovely wife and 6 beautiful children.

Hey folks,

Websleuths is victim friendly. Don't get into speculation about involvement in drugs. There is nothing in MSM or from LE to substantiate such negative speculation about the victim.

Thank you.

Who did that? All I said was, though he doesn't seem the type, he could have been a victim of events stemming from heavy meth-use in the area. The meth-heads gave a history of robbing homes, etc. Violent crime is very uncommon in Northwest Kansas, but it has happened.
