Circumstances of Disappearance
Joe disappeared on August 22, 1981, with Stevie Hammerle. Joe and Stevie were at a birthday party in the 1000 block of Pointz Avenue, given for Stevie's girlfriend. At some point during the party, Stevie and Joe decided to go to the store. The two men and a few unnamed individuals left in Joe's red van. Stevie and Joe, nor the van, have been seen since. Foul play is suspected.

According to the DoeNetwork's linked information source, there was a plan by Adventures With Purpose to search for the missing men and their vehicle in January this year but due to ice they couldn't get their boats in the water to search.

Hello, so Stevie hammerle is my father, Joe went missing with him. The very little information out there is from the police report and from witnesses, this case was never taken seriously in the 80s and New detectives dont have anything else to go on, adventures with purpose did come out, it was me who answered their calls, and there was too much ice, and they never came back after that, they were searching for a missing vehicle from one of the suspects. There was also a couple digs last year accompanied by cadaver dogs, the spot they hit on, they were unable to get any further into the ground. Due to much and weather over the years.
