GUILTY KS - Kadillak Poe-Jones, 10 mos, dies in hot car, Wichita, 24 July 2014

Because there are SO many of these incidents this year, and because the impact tends to get diluted with so many individual threads, I am thinking of starting an omnibus thread for hot car incidents (separate from the Cooper Harris case and other major prosecutions.) Thoughts?

I have thought we need that too. Can you link it here when you do it?

I am so angry right now I think I could spit nails!

Prosecutors allege Wichita foster dad was smoking pot while baby girl was dying in hot car

WICHITA, Kan. — Accused of being high on marijuana and wanting more, a foster-father had his bond maintained at $250,000 as he faces charges in the death of his 10-month-old foster daughter inside a hot car. The District Attorney’s Office of Sedgwick County revealed in court that they believe marijuana was a contributing factor in the death of the 10-month old girl.

From your link:

prosecutors have evidence that Jackson drove his five-year-old adopted son to an appointment, then went to pick up Kadillak at daycare. With the kids in the car, prosecutors say Jackson drove to a drug dealer’s house to buy more marijuana because he had run out. They say when he returned home, Jackson left the baby in the car, while the 5-year-old managed to get out by himself.

So he scored while the kids were in the car, too

Forgetting is such a factor of his recreational use of his drug of choice.

I have wondered out loud on the CH death in Atlanta if JRH had been drug screened and we heard nothing on that.

So he got neither child out of the car basically. I hope he receives the most possible time in a cell that he can. And, I don't care if he was high on pot. He was obv indulging while he was driving or after he smoked, he drove and then forgot. We all know that smoking pot leads to forgetfulness, it better not be used as an excuse in this case, either. I want to spit nails too!!

(I wish the press wouldn't use that messed up name for her.) I read an article yesterday that he is not allowed to speak to any of the people on the witness list... his mom and his partner are both on the list. I keep typing and deleting my words...this is just too much. :(

I am with you popsicle an a ton of Words just came to mind! :gaah: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:

I place this guy in the same category as RS. imo

:( Not that it makes the situation better, but I was really hoping it was a lost in the shuffle sort of thing. It sounds as if he really was negligent. I feel even worse for all those involved.

I'm not going to be popular on this thread because I think the prosecution overcharged him. SO FAR that what I think. I'm going to wait til more info. comes out & I may change my mind. This is nothing like the Ross Harris case, IMO. I think he should be charged but of involuntary manslaughter maybe.

Last year in Illinois a man forgot his child in a hot car while he was inside drunk, passed out on the floor! He was charged with involuntary manslaughter. These all are ridiculous stories of course, no matter if the parent is high, drunk or just stupid.

"A child crying on the television show "Game of Thrones" jogged a foster parent's memory that he had left a 10-month-old girl inside a sweltering car while he and his partner smoked marijuana at their house, a police affidavit released Monday says."Seth Jackson, 29, is charged with first-degree murder in the July 24 death in Wichita. No charges have been filed against his partner."

The charge against Jackson,:
" Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett said the first-degree murder charge was warranted because the child died during the commission of an inherently dangerous felony, aggravated endangering of a child. The case is not charged as intentional murder." BBM

Sad, sad, sad. RIP Baby Girl.

This case just keeps getting sicker! imo

RIP baby girl!

While looking at an article this morning on a teacher that forgot her 18 month old baby in the car.... underneath that was the sentencing article on Seth and this tweet from a reporter. Is he for real? I have really had to distance myself from child cases for a bit.... very difficult.

Jackson now getting emotional, says he never understood how anyone could leave a child in a car, then he found himself in the same position.
