I also wonder what Highlights her home life as a reason for disappearing

sometimes the issue is just simple and lies with the individual

Hmmm, reading through all of your posts I am becoming even more concerned for her... Has LE done even one presser?

I'm really curious what it is about this case that makes you think there's some creepy backstory in her home life?

I can’t answer for MemPat, but I concur with her viewpoint.
My suspicions are based on 14 years of cases we’ve watched play out on WS and 26 years personal experience in my own failed marriage to man who’s identity is dependant upon absolute power in his profession and a perfect public image. Charm, charm, benevolence and charm.
Perfection isn’t reality. Any family member who is not enhancing this image of perfection can be ostracized. Whispers begin with the powerful person threatening or spreading rumors about the spouse’s behavior or mental health. Control.
Suddenly, someone is missing. And there are plenty of excuses ready and waiting to be tossed about so that will look like she’s crazy or suicidal.

I hope this is not the case with MariLane and her family, but it is a valid theory.

I don't think she did.
Like someone previously mentioned, in Baptist circles, something like this is considered heretical.
Baptists and Roman Catholics don't hold to the same doctrinal teachings AT ALL.
So for her to do this, either with or without her husband's knowledge, it presents all kinds of HUGE issues, in their marriage, extended Baptist family, his position as pastor, their friendships and fellowship in the church, etc.
And if it was with his knowledge, he's definitely going to be looking for a new job.
I just can't bring myself to believe this is what happened, only because it's essentially unheard of, for the wife of a Baptist pastor to convert to Roman Catholicism.

Another poster, who has her own blog and also posts on here, has confirmed it is indeed THE Marilane Carter that is listed on the Catholic church website. She converted.

Perhaps that will also answer your question as to why people wonder if things were okay at home.

I think we should be leaning more towards she did convert based on all the evidence.

The YouTube account follows a priest who interestingly talks about his calling in one of the 7 videos he has uploaded. He only has 12 subscribers and Marilane is one. We’ve already figured out the user name is her deceased fiancées birthday.

Sometimes intellectuals do change religion. We know she had her masters in divinity.

The key question for me will be did her husband know.

I hope she has been taken in by a catholic related safe house for lack of a better word.

Here is the YouTube and screenshot of who she subscribed to. I also find interesting she subscribed to Alanis Morisette who had her own public battle with mental illness.

When did she convert to Catholicism? Was that recent?

it sounds like they just notarized her signature? because if they notarized his, without him being present, and it's not through some new statute that allows remote notarization - this is a violation IMO.
I agree it was a totally new one for me. I was pretty dumbfounded over the entire thing. I had no idea what I was being told to do was even possible. I left the dmv with the document. And met him to get his signature and returned like she instructed. Totally being expected to be told by the next clerk that helped me that this wasn’t legAl. But i had no issues I wAs mind blown honestly.

I'm confused about the conversion process - specifically, the length of time.

My former boss wasn't Catholic but married a Catholic. He eventually converted and it was a rather lengthy process. There were classes and lessons and … stuff … it wasn't just a simple process. I think I recall, he even had a sponsor in the church, for lack of a better term.

Can any Catholic on the board chime in and tell me if the conversion process is still like that or if you can just easily walk down the aisle, as you do in Baptist churches.

Also, preacher's wife here. Both of us raised Baptist (Southern for me, Missionary for him). I can't decide where I sit on this case, yet, but I will say this: assuming she's not having mental health problems, I'm surprised that there aren't more people from the church commenting publicly. Scandalous behavior rarely stays among the "prayer chain" for this long.

I meant, is there something specific her husband or family has said or done that makes anyone think that?
I don't see them as having a perfect public image, but maybe I'm missing something.

Is there a link to this info? How exactly was it confirmed, and who confirmed it?

is anyone able to watch?? I can't ...
I just finished. Nothing new to me other than she had purchased a SW Airlines ticket to Alabama but took a nap and decided when she wakened not to wait for the flight but to leave at that time and drive. Her husband knew and off she went.

I thought it was a lengthy process.

I'm not sure how anyone can be gone two hours on the same evening and nothing be said or noticed.

Or discussed by the community.

This whole case isn't passing the smell test.
