Former deputy arrested on sex crimes, connected to missing teen from Hays

The KBI said it was contacted Friday by the Hays Police Department for help with an investigation of a missing 15-year-old runaway last seen on March 22.

The KBI said it was contacted Friday by the Hays Police Department for help with an investigation of a missing 15-year-old runaway last seen on March 22. Hays Police investigators believed the teen was with Michael Tennyson, a recently hired deputy by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, in Iola in southeast Kansas.

I wonder what led Hays police officers to the minor in Iola, Kansas. I'm glad the minor was rescued though.

Tennyson was arrested on requested charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. In January, Tennyson had been newly hired as a deputy for the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. His employment was terminated Friday when the allegations became known.
