I’m not sure about some of this information. Some of the timeline dates are obviously off but also according to Jan (Rachel’s mom), the mattress was not set on fire that night but a month or so earlier.

This is a clear case of abuse... the girl with that older guy... I imagine she would say it was with her consent... but it is still statutory rape... I have a question... where was her stepfather when he disappeared? How do we know the baby was her boyfriend? the mother didn't know one of her children was being abused?...it's worth mentioning that her stepfather was a judge in Garden City for many years including at the time of her disappearance...if you watch the first and second part of Jan's interview at her home 2 or 3 years ago on YouTube (which is above) she lacks empathy, smiles often and has changed many of the details of the original statement to the police in the mid 90's...she also added a lot of supposed newer memories that were never mentioned until a few years ago...the GC newspaper article from 1996 claimed he was sleeping on the couch...now the story has changed and it says he was already awake or was sleeping in the master bedroom...he has never said or done anything about Rachel's case and has completely stayed out of the public eye...no one in the family was interviewed, questioned or given a polygraph...poor girl was hanging out with the wrong people...stealing a pregnancy test...it was only then that the mother found out she was pregnant...
either way
rest in peace peace rachel

My notes from having watched the video -

The son who set a mattress on fire- it was a month or so before Rachel disappeared. He was only five years old and tossed matches on a roll away mattress. The basement still smelled like smoke and because of that, Rachel had been sleeping upstairs on the couch.

Rachel’s stepfather was named Peter.

Rachel’s mom, Jan, called the house just before midnight to make sure Rachel was going to bed soon as Rachel had to work the next morning. The phone was busy, when she tried again later and it was still busy, she just went home. She arrived home around 2 AM. Jan had a flexible job and would have been able to easily make up the hours the next night.

Around 5AM, Jan heard and saw a car that she recognized to be Rachel’s boyfriends, but it didn’t stop at their house. It just slowly drove by and kept going.

Jan thinks that Rachel left with her boyfriend before she arrived home at 2 AM and that the plan was for Rachel’s 18 year old boyfriend to drop her off back at home before Jan normally would have returned home from work but when they saw Jan’s car there, they knew they would be caught, so they kept driving on past the house.

Rachel was as pregnant.
