Missing Neb. man last seen in Clay Center

Local authorities are looking for a man who was last seen in Clay Center on Sunday, Feb. 3, at around 8:30.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol searched for Rick Kubes, a Nebraska who went missing after he left Clay Center, on Sunday night and on Monday.

Kubes, a 66-year-old man was headed toward Aubrn, Neb. He is 5'10" and 170 pounds and has a history of heart issues.

He was driving a silver Ford Ranger with a custom Nebraska plant of " FISH,' a black bug guard on the the front. and a big Red "N' stuck on the driver's side window.

That is about a 2 1/2 hour drive. All flat (of course) land, but quite a drive.

Well when I was there the only thing I saw that wasn't flat was the bluffs we drove by. So, I am going by what I saw then. Sorry to offend you.

UPDATE: Body of missing man was located near Clay Center - The Salina Post

Dunn says an official cause of death hasn’t been determined but it appeared Kubes had a medical issue because his vehicle had drifted off the road.

The sheriff says Kubes left a home in Clay Center early Sunday to drive to a hospital in Auburn because he was suffering from back pain.
