Once again, more than a little off on the ages...how can a 12 month old be a "3 year old" there's a big difference there. I always take those "estimations" with a grain of salt. I think that's why we have so many unidentified remains, because people limit themselves to searching for the 'approx. age"

BTW...I hope this guys rots in jail. Those poor souls...a 12 month old! This man should NEVER be allowed to walk free again.

A divided Kansas Supreme Court has reversed the Riley County capital murder conviction of Luis Aguirre, accused in the 2009 killing of his former girlfriend and the couple's 1-year-old son...

Through email contact with Maldonado, Aguirre was encouraged to make contact with Juan and begin support payments, court testimony showed. When he failed to do so, Maldonado threatened legal action and set a September 20, 2009, deadline for his response...

Though the state sought the death penalty in the case, Aguirre was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole following his conviction.

Luis Antonio Aguirre, 30, was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of his son, Juan Maldonado. He’s also guilty of voluntary manslaughter for causing Tanya Maldonado’s death.

Aguirre was found guilty of capital murder during a 2012 trial, but the Kansas Supreme Court reversed that verdict after ruling police violated his rights.

Aguirre’s sentencing is set for 11 a.m. April 2 at the Riley County Courthouse.

Luis Antonio Aguirre, 30, was sentenced to life in prison with a 25-year minimum for the first-degree murder of his son, Juan Maldonado. He was also sentenced to an additional 61 months for the voluntary manslaughter of his ex-girlfriend Tanya Maldonado.
