Family and friends are searching for a Florida man who went missing while stationed in Kansas with the National Guard.

Family of 24-year-old Roberto Junior Familia say he has been missing for over a week and they are desperately trying to locate him. They were last in contact with him by phone on March 19th.

Familia, who has family in Florida and New York, moved to Junction City in Kansas as he was with the National Guard stationed at Fort Riley.

Family say in his last correspondence Familia may have been experiencing stress possibly stemming from post-traumatic stress disorder. In his last message to his family he showed signs of distress that caused alarm.

Over the past few days family have contacted every hospital in Kansas and searched other public records including arrests reports in an unsuccessful attempt to locate Familia.

The family tells KSAL News Roberto’s mother is making a 21-hour drive from Florida to file a missing person report with the Junction City Police Department, which must be filed in person.

This seems ridiculous. Fort Riley has people stationed there from all over, even internationally. Some families probably cannot make the trip for many reasons. Does this mean their loved one just never gets reported missing??

Family of a 24-year-old Florida man stationed at Fort Riley thought to be missing say they’re desperate for answers.

Roberto Junior Familia is an inactive U.S. Army soldier based in Junction City, with family in Florida and New York. His cousins shared in an email they last had phone correspondence with him March 19 and says a message he sent showed possible signs of distress that caused them alarm. They he say he suffers from PTSD and they have tried to file a missing person report with JCPD, which must be done in person.

Efforts to locate Familia so far have come up empty, as family say they’ve contacted every hospital in Kansas and searched other public records including arrest reports.

The family tells KMAN in an email, his mother is making the trip from Florida to Kansas to file a missing person report.

Found, arrested in GA.

A missing Fort Riley soldier has been located and arrested in central Georgia.

The family of Roberto Junior Familia confirmed he was arrested in Crisp County, Ga., since the day they last heard from him on Tuesday, March 21. His cousin said he was arrested on charges stemming from a car chase, but law enforcement there was unaware he was a missing person – something the family struggled to get filed with law enforcement agencies for several days.
