Found Deceased KS - Savannah Schneider, 23, Wichita, 31 May 2020, Visually Impaired

  • #21
Hi everyone! It’s been awhile - I haven’t checked in here since the devastating Lucas Hernandez case. This case is hitting close to home as I know a few of Savannah’s family members. I hope she is found soon.

To clear up the “intellectual” vs. “visual” impairment question, the family has held firm that Savannah is ONLY visually impaired. This impairment has caused her to be more gullible than your average person, but she is not intellectually disabled or impaired.

Another twist in this story is that at the time she went missing her FaceBook was deactivated. Friends say she deactivated it a couple weeks prior to going missing. It was reactivated last Friday - June 5th - after she was presumably missing for 5 days.

Her Facebook photos look very different than the missing photo IMO

She posted a lot about staying safer at home and in support of quarantine. Just something to ponder why would she up and leave? Just thinking. Seems she left willingly based on the little facts we have.... but why? Family mentions she could have been susceptible to an online meetup.

“The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday the Sumner County Sheriff requested assistance after a badly decomposed body was found in the Ninnescah River over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the KBI said the agency has joined what it is now calling a homicide investigation and is working diligently to positively identify the victim.

It looks like she posted on her facebook on June 6. Poignant post. I really hope that means the body found in the river isn't her. The article says "decomposed" which I don't imagine would happen in 4 days.

The fact that she lost not just her mom, dad and stepdad in the last 2 years PLUS losing a very close friend to homicide (thanks @fred&edna - the article has to be her - all the facts line up) would be enough to make anyone vulnerable, much less a young woman with a disability, who lost so many anchoring figures. My heart aches for her.

Per the link, she lost her mom, dad and stepdad within the past 2 years. The friends interviewed seemed to care very much for her. I hope she's found soon.

Savannah Schneider still missing
Anyone know if Savannah was friends with Rowena Irani who was murdered in 2016? Maybe it's a friend with same name (and same mother's name)??

Also from the article found at the second link:
“On Sunday, at approximately 1:30pm, Sumner County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the area of 130th Ave and West Rd for a reported body in the water. When deputies arrived, they found a body in the water, west of the intersection.

It appears that the location is about 10 driving miles southwest of Haysville, and virtually the same (9.872 according to Google Maps) as the crow flies:

Oh no - you are right. I misread. Not sure why. I’m not totally Facebook savvy but I don’t usually misread dates. I’ll report my post.

Group planning a search for missing Wichita 23-year-old

"You never want this to happen to anyone and then you hear it happened to a friend, it’s just it’s really terrifying, scary,” said friend Lauren Simon.

There will be a search party at 8 am at Campus High School in Haysville. There is also a night vigil held outside of Delta Gamma on Omega Court in Wichita at 8:30 pm.

Friends are encouraging everyone to come and said they need all of the help they can get.

Has LE confirmed Savannah requested a pick-up via Lyft/Uber? Or did she agree to have someone she met online (or elsewhere) pick her up? *Nevermind... I am re-reading some links and it was reported as a Lyft.

Pending DNA confirmation, they say body is that of Shalan Niccole Gannon, 27, of Wichita. Gannon was reported missing on April 11, 2020.
