You're making too much out of this if it's worrying you much more of this will take place. We have racism among us and for someone to just up and shoot people just because of their race is rare. They said this happened because of an argument. I'm wondering if the argument was about something other then these guys having brown skin? The man who shot these three was intoxicated and had a serious drinking problem. Not that his drinking and being highly intoxicated will have any effect on the crime he committed but may have an effect on him being charged with a hate crime. This case is where I find charging the bar with penalties should come into play. They were serving a very intoxicated person and allowing him to be a patron in their establishment. People that know the shooter are saying this kind of behavior was unknown to them. This man had been seriously depressed and was drinking heavily and the neighbors were checking on him regularly. Sounds like he just mentally snapped from drinking and possibly a mental health issue. I'm not looking at this incident as terrorism and most likely not a hate crime.

I am waiting for the FBI to make that judgement.

Federal investigators looking into deadly Austins Bar and Grill shooting as a possible hate crime

Olathe police revealed Thursday at a joint press conference they are working alongside the FBI to determine what's next, including whether federal hate crime charges are possible.

The FBI got involved after witnesses and victims’ family members claimed suspect Adam Purinton used racial slurs before shooting two men believed to be from India.

Why don't more people care about this incident? It boggles my mind.

Am I weird??

I care <3

It amazes me the lengths we will go to in order to not pin a hate crime terrorist act on a white man.

Alok Madasani told the BBC how his attacker asked him if he was in the United States illegally, questioning where he'd come from. His friend Srinivas Kutchibhotla was killed in the gun attack. Mr Kutchibhotla's wife Sunayana has also been describing events of that evening, for the first time Both spoke exclusively to the BBC's Rajini Vaidyanathan.

Because the media & politicians have lied so much about these incidents, nobody believes them anymore. For reference, see the story about the little boy who cried wolf.

BTW, white people have fears for their babies as well.

Sure, white people have fears, but being gunned down for the color of their skin while out having drinks with a friend isn't one of them.

And where has the media lied about this kind of attack? I know of one politician who has invented attacks like this out of whole cloth, but that's a recent phenomenon limited to him and his staff. I don't know of any incidents of the media doing it.

Well of course, who would think otherwise?

The massacres in Sweden and Bowling Green (lol) are the cries of wolf that detract from incidents such as this.

I also don't understand why white ppl would think that POC think they shouldn't have concern and fear for their children when POC do after a clearly racially motivated attack.

1. Incorrect.

2. Too numerous to count. The fake news is endless.

My point is that ALL colors have those same fears.

As a white person, I do not have that fear. I have never heard another white person express this fear. I literally have no idea what you're referring to.

I'd be interested to hear just one example of a fake attack promoted by the government or mainstream news, other than the aforementioned fake Bowling Green and fake Sweden attacks.

Um, just because you have no fear, it doesn't mean others don't.

And here are some fake news stories for you--there are just a few mentioned of the many that have been promoted. After this, I'm done with this thread because I can't deal with this. At best, it's ignorance--at worst, it's pure evil.

My point is, my fear for my Latino sons doesn't negate whatever fears you have. Stats show I have certain worries that you would be less likely to have. But I certainly do know that you have worries for your children.

Yes, agreed, it is evil to shoot ppl and yell "get out of America".

This is a great thread - while the incident is front and center, American vs American is seeping through loud and clear.

Good luck to you all.

Ah man idk. Ppl twist everything these days. There is an "ulterior motive" to be disgusted. I just don't get it. Racism does exist, it's utterly ridiculous to deny it. Do some take things too far? Yes! But to deny its existence is taking it too far the other way. There is too little love and empathy and it hurts.

"Divide and conquer" wish it wasn't working. [emoji30]

With all due respect, the racism has been there all along - now y'all are being led to choose and act rather than stand quietly imo.

I like your 'divide and conquer' statement - very true. Like I said, good luck with that.

To all of those trying to rationalize this: you know domestic terrorists far outweigh international terrorists who come to the US to inflict fear right? What this guy did is akin to domestic terror and not just a hate crime. JMO

Your comments are shocking to me. Perhaps I've missed something, and if so, I apologize. I don't believe that white people are under siege. The quote you provided didn't result in anyone being hurt. How many refugees from the banned countries have killed white Americans? Do you have numbers? I believe it is zero, although I might be mistaken. Please feel free to provide the "true" statistics. I would love to see them.

I am disappointed that you are minimizing the victims in this case. They were killed because of their skin color and yet you say that everyone is afraid. It is that attitude that contributed to this shooting.

If I get a time out because of this post, I accept it. I will not stand by while people imply that this is fake news!!

Ooops. Perhaps I misunderstood. What is ignorance? What is pure evil? My apologies if I misunderstood your comment, which I very much might have.

@gardenista I'm also not sure what you "can't deal with". The crime? The fact that people were shot for no reason other than their color? People showing empathy for the victims?

In that article, a member of a black church burned their own church and sprayed graffiti that said "Vote Trump." Unfortunate, twisted, and sad, but I don't see how this is fake news or a fake attack -- it looks like LE and the media uncovered the truth and here it is. Also, it wasn't a terror attack. No one died.

Sadly, black churches have been burned with some frequency by white supremacists for at least 150 years and it is still happening today. That's very real.
