Circumstances of Disappearance
Galbreath was last seen driving his Prairieland Processors truck, bound for Hutchinson. He made scheduled stops in Wichita and at the Valley Center High School. Witnesses saw the truck sideswiping parked cars. Hours later, Stan's truck turned up in a parking lot in Wichita with Stan's blood inside. Galbreath's sunglasses and ball cap were found in the cab of the truck. His body has not been recovered. Witness descriptions of the man seen sideswiping cars and ditching the meat truck varied, but it was not Stan. Galbreath was abducted and killed and the meat was stolen from the 18-foot refrigerated truck he was driving for Prairieland Processors, investigators believe. Further, they think the meat was targeted and Galbreath happened to be the person driving the truck that day.
Galbreath was declared legally dead in 1985.

I can't find any updates on this case but just thought I would leave a message and let the family know we're still looking for Stan and searching for clues.

This case is striking to me because I'm a truck driver and I've been close to something like this happening to me... I imagine Stanley resisted the robbery, and for the criminals, it was easier to kill him since there was a motive. They probably held him at gunpoint and quickly subdued him, then went somewhere remote and stole the truck or transferred the cargo to another truck. Perhaps the guy in the sketch who was seen driving erratically and crashing cars didn't know how to drive a truck with a different gearbox than a car. He probably died quickly from a gunshot and was buried somewhere... A hard-working man vilely murdered by scum...
Whatever the case,
rest in peace.

This case caught my attention when I first saw it, as my own father was a truck driver. I can only imagine what family members must have felt when Stanley went missing.

Fortunately, my own father always came home safely after he completed his deliveries. But there are threats out there that have increased over the years - hijacking, cargo thieves and other criminal activity.
