Court is in session but the visual is on the defendant and the sound is off. Are witnesses so afraid of speaking up on the defendant's behalf that they want anonymity? It makes it hard to follow... I almost wish JA was back on the stand for another 18 days...(no I don't)

The marriage counselor testified that Mr. Seacat called her the Saturday after the fire and wanted advice on how to tell the boys that their mother had committed suicide. WTF! They were 2 and 4 years old and he was going to tell them about suicide? Talk about those little boys needing therapy for the rest of their lives.

Could it be that Mr. Seacat is so sure of how the system works and his prowess in manipulating other people that he called this therapist to plant the seed of a suicide in the counselor's head? Hasn't he told everyone, including the 911 call, that his wife shot herself. IMO he wasn't asking the therapist for advice, that was just a ruse.

Exactly Hopeful One! Why do you need to cover up your own suicide!

Private Investigator for the Defense is up on stand, HLN is saying, but no sound allowed. Three vials were found that have something to do with Vashti taking something for depression, according to HLN.

Brett is probably going to have to take the stand.

So she was suicidal because she was depressed. Because EVERYONE who suffers from depression wants to shoot their own head off.

I've struggled with chronic depression for over 20 years and I've never been to the point where I considered taking my life.

I hate when they try to pull stuff like that. Bash the victim any way we can.

And if she wanted the boys dead, a fire isn't a sure way to do it. They could have been rescued, why would she risk that??

If she wanted a murder-suicide, she would have shot them too.

If she committed suicide (which I don't believe), why did she start the house on fire? If she wanted to kill herself AND the kids, why not just shoot them too? The fire makes no sense.

Agree, even if the woman was depressed ( I don't believe that, more like scared) I can't believe that she would want her kids to suffer the death of being burned alive. No way. She supposedly had the gun. Shoot the kids then yourself.

How did he know she shot herself if the house was on fire and he couldn't get to her?

I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really wondering. Does he claim to have been there when she shot herself or very shortly after, before the fire started?

Filicide is so, so rare. I would think there would have been at least some signs that things weren't right with her before it happened. I know that's not always the case but it seems like it would be here.

Of course I think he was trying to cover any possible evidence of his crime but the defense might try to say that Mrs Seacat didn't want her husband having anything. So the house and the kids had to go too.

I would imagine he claimed as much. Fire starts, dude runs up to see what's happening, wife shoots herself. Mind you I don't believe it, but it could play out as a reasonable doubt explanation.

I think he caved at last minute to rescue kids, he had life ins policies. The gas can was also discovered melted into the bed!

Let me see if I remember this correctly. He was asleep downstairs on the couch. She called him (not sure if by voice or phone) when he went upstairs the house was on fire and then she shot herself before he got to her. He tried to remove her but could not or something which is why he said she was laying on the gun. Then he left her because he could tell she was dead and got the boys out of the house and called 911.

The above is what I believe I have heard from the 911 and police interviews that HLN has shown.

I saw a couple of photos, I believe taken at the police station, which showed a hairy leg and a path that the hair was singed off of and a blister or two on his feet. These photos were of the defendant. His pants had gasoline on them. IMO the gasoline is powerful evidence that Mr Seacat set the fire and that he got stupid and the fire licked him.

Anyone have links to the police interviews?

That was his biggest mistake, he shouldn't hv known about the gun shots. Gun was found under her body. He is a fool.

Now what? Kansas Broadcast System color pattern up on screen.

I want to hear the husband when he gets on the stand. My opinion is he's guilty of killing his wife without a doubt. He took his children's mother away from them. What he did makes me sick.

I'm an idiot. For some reason I was thinking the fire was last. Drrrrrrrr, HO. Vashti would have to be pretty talented to shoot herself dead and then start the house on fire.

I think they are on afternoon break, but it is hard to tell. But we got to see the defendant and inside the courtroom up until now so I bet it's afternoon break time.
