I'm just starting to get into this trial and I have a question:

On HLN, I think it was Nancy Grace, it was said the bullet in Vashti's head was in the back of her head, kind of close to her ear. Is this TRUE?

If it is, I'm gonna add that to the fact that her 2 babies were in the house (what Mother would burn the house down?) and lean towards Brett is guilty. I don't have enough facts to totally make up my mind yet.

Nancy Grace has him tried and convicted already and it sounds like she may be right, but we ARE talking HLN here and they get plenty WRONG.:twocents:

The fuuuuuuuuuuuu?!?!?!?!?

One of his co-workers testified that he requested use of an overhead projector which she found strange because they are so outdated (everyone uses Elmos now). Theory is that he used the lighted part of it to trace his wife's handwriting.

I usually err on the side of law enforcement, mostly because I believe their service to the public entitles them to the benefit of the doubt. That said I think Seacat is 100% guilty. Sure it wasn't a great plot and one might logically think a LE officer with extensive crime scene experience would do better but I think Brett was so arrogant he didn't try very hard. I think he figured he was smarter than the cops who would respond and that they wouldn't think it was him because he thought he was above them. Overcoming the logistics of Vashti holding that large wild wild west gun and inflicting a back to front gun shot wound on herself will be difficult, at best. Then overcoming the theory that Vashti somehow started a fire, then shot herself, but managed to have no smoke or soot in her lungs is the final forensic nail in Seacat's coffin.

I think "eraser murderers" (Scott Peterson, Diane Downs, Susan Smith, etc.) are arrogant. Also, they have a complete inability to empathize and therefore to think like other people. They cannot anticipate how their actions will appear to others; this, coupled with their arrogance, causes them to make the mistakes that get them arrested.

That suicide note is sooo obviously forged. I can see that and I'm no expert.

Thanks for the link with the photos!

The one photo of the gun shows it has a very long barrell. Another photo shows the coroner (?) pointing to the base of the deceased victim's skull as if that is the entry of the bullet? I tried holding a ruler at the 7 inch mark and positioning it to jam up to the back of my skull and I couldn't do it and the farther I held the 'gun' the more impossible the shot.

Brett Seacat says he heard two loud (did he say pop?) noises and then got a phone call from his wife. So what are the two loud noises? Does the state say that the fire was set with explosives or some other type of incendiary devices?

Was the victim shot once or twice? Both in the stem at the back of the neck? How can anyone at that weird angle hold the gun to the back of the head and shoot not once but twice?

Brett backed himself into a corner IMO. The two loud noises cannot be his shot, DEAD wife calling him on his cell phone from heaven telling him to get the kids out of the house.

And what is the HCG vial in evidence for? I googled it and it is a hormone that helps a woman support a pregnancy. So how old is that vial and the script for it? That makes no sense to me. Who tries to get pregnant if they are suicidal or if they are divorcing?

This reolveR is a ruger red hawk. There is no way she could hv lifted it w one hand top of the head down bullet ends up severing base of skull, and brain/spinal cord. The barrel is seven inches long.

Anyone know what time the trial resumes today? I'm in Oklahoma and it is 9:35am.

Thanks for the info Cherry. I guessed the barrel to be about 7 inches but the entry wound is the top of the head and the exit thru the base of the skull? I just tried doing that with a ruler and that too is impossible. My trigger finger isn't capable of pulling the trigger in that scenerio.

Bummer! A redacted trial. Can the defendant demand it as well? What would Brett Seacat need to hide or protect if he is an innocent man?
