Its a common law wife, apparently from HLN there was a time that he was still "married" to this person and Vashti (overlap).

Is that the same overhead projector that Brett Seacat practiced his wife's handwriting on? After all it seems like they have to share mics, don't have computers to project evidence onto large screens. I bet that could be the only projector in the county.

So this guys is an expert on bagging material. But doesn't have a lab. How can he verify cross contamination or loss of evidence w/o lab materials to examine?

Kansas laws on common law marriage are open to interpretation:

"A common law marriage is a marriage by agreement of the two persons without any formal ceremony or license. A common law marriage will be recognized in Kansas if the couple considers themselves to be married and publicly holds themselves out to be married and if they are legally eligible to marry. No minimum period of cohabitation is required.

Common Law marriages are subject to the same legal obligations and privileges that apply to marriages with licenses. Once a common law marriage is established, the couple must get a court ordered divorce to terminate the marriage."

It would seem the lady who decided they had been common law married and is now seeking a divorce may be seeking her 10 minutes of fame. just my opinion tho!

Oh UGH, guy on HLN that just testified is being interviewed. He says in his opinion the state has NOT proved that Seacat did this.

Either that or I know this is waaaay out there but I wonder if this lady fears Brett Seacat trying to attach her possessions/wealth to pay for his defense team.

One of the neighbors of the Seacats was interviewed by Rowlands just now on HLN. He says he just doesn't see any evidence of Seacat's guilt. Says that Vashti was a nice lady who loved to bake and gave them baked goods, good mother to children. He can't imagine either her killing herself or Seacat killing his wife scenario.

So if he's been watching the same trial as we have.. then wow.

Is this the witness that testified earlier today.
If so, how would he know what evidence the state put forward if he was not allowed to watch or attend the trial.

That's exactly what I thought. But because,. IF they actually had a common law within the EYES of the law, then she would be responsible even if she files for divorce. Unless she knows something we don't.

OTOH, IF this other woman was actually legally his common law wife, then I believe it's POSSIBLE the marriage to Vashti wasn't valid.

Here in Oklahoma you can have common law if you rent a hotel room as Mr and Mrs (present yourself as married) or if both parties names are on the same bank accts or utility accts anotherwords co mingling of their funds.

I think common law would be strengthed if they filed taxes as married.
