GUILTY KS - Vashti Seacat, 34, found slain in house fire, Kingman, 30 April 2011 - #2

  • #81
Well after hearing the state's closing I am feeling much much more confident that the jury will decide guilty on all charges. Not hearing the opening statements made me wonder, but man this prosecution closing was good, to the point, had the right visuals, and was fabulous.

I really don't think defense can bring anything to the table, after seeing their case in chief there is just nothing to dispute the state's evidence.

I am feeling pretty darn confident right now that Mr. Seacat will be reflecting on his folly from behind bars..........

Does anyone know if BS has been in jail the whole time waiting for his trial, or out on bond? Also, what does the full bladder mean?
Thanks:)

I liked the way the pros made the point that Brett was served with divorce papers two days before Vashti died. He only had until Sunday afternoon before he had to be out of the house and Friday night was the last night Vashti would be in the home as Saturday she was going to a concert in the city and would most likely spend the night as she usually did. That was why he was careless in premeditating the forgery and harddrives and cell phones, he almost had no choice if he was going to do it before he was kicked outta' the house.

I hadn't heard about the time he was to be out of the house and that makes it all the more apparent he did this crime.

Mr. Seacat has been in jail the entire time, his bail I believe was set at $1 million.

The full bladder means if she was up and about she would have had to have gone to the bathroom before setting three fires in her home. It would have been uncomfortable if she was awake.

It means she had to go to the bathroom really bad. So as the pros said, she was doing the dance (some do when they really have to go!) and holding her breath as she was going around setting three separate fires.

She had no soot in her lungs, thus she was dead.
Experts said there were three separate fires, not just one.
The fire in the bedroom was last and didn't burn as Brett had planned, thus the photos of the actual fire showing the storage area on fire and no flames yet visible from the bedroom.

Thanks KMouse for transcribing.

I like how Ms Hanly encouraged the juror's to take the evidence back to the jury room. Also on the tapes the exact evidence # and place in the tape to hear what she is talking about.

Thanks! That makes sense.
Interesting for him to be I jail and experience the other side of the law. He is very arrogant, and after hearing that he wouldn't risk his life just to save " body" shows his heartless nature. Also, what kind of good father threatens to take the kids away from their mother? What a tool.

I don't know about the first part, and I hope joypath will bring her science fun into the second part... but I will try.

If you have a very full bladder, it makes it hard to concentrate on going to get the gun, set some fires, etc, like Hanley said.. "doing the potty dance".

It shows that Vashti was sound asleep, lying on her side, with a full bladder at 3:15am while her husband snuck up and shot her in the head, svering her spinal cord.

"Find him guilty as charged" ends Hanley, she has 31 minutes left after the defense closing. Judge takes a quick recess, hit the pit #Seacat

We're back :)

Oh boy, this lawyer is gonna drag this out for his entire hour and a half. I know I am being petty but his voice does not inspire confidence, it reminds me of a whiny child wanting more ice cream.

I like the prosecutor's style. This guy is boring. ZZZZzzzzzz

Why does he pause like he is waiting for an answer to his questions? lol

No blood splatter on Mr Brett Seacat, Mr Defense atty, because I think Brett is bright enough to either place something up against him (like a pillow) which would burn in the fire or a shirt that he could discard in the fire.

Vashti was laying on her left side sound asleep.

Defense is using the angle of the shot and no blood on the defendent to prove he could not have shot her.

Yes, as some say, he must have changed his clothes after shooting her, but before setting the fire.
