I am five feet and nine inches. Kurt Cobain was five feet and nine inches. I most likely have a longer arm span than he did for various reasons. I can tell you that unless the officer holding the rifle is a little person, I don't think I'd be able to reach the trigger of that gun if the barrel was in my mouth.

Let's see, memories of Nirvana. When Kurt died I was 13 and in middle school. I remember the news broke during the middle of the day so during recess that we all somehow heard the news (not sure how, maybe the radio. This was 94)

I was too young to truly understand it, and I didn't fully appreciate Nirvana until maybe age 16 or so. But nonetheless, very rough to hear the news of a musician who was at the height of his career and had died with so much potential left.

Throughout the 90s there was a trove of Nirvana rarities to be had, so in a sense there was new stuff to discover. I think it hit me the hardest in 2002 when the boxed set came out and "You Know You're Right" finally was released. And that was it. There was no more finished Nirvana songs to be had. Very bittersweet indeed.

There of course are a laundry list of reasons why the event of K's apparent death do not add up.
Just off the top of my head:
1) no prints on shotgun
2) 3 shells in shotgun, only needed 1
3) He was clean and yet had 3 times lethal dose of H, which would render him unconcious before he could pull a trigger.
4) where shotgun was laying. Should have been found with his hand frozen to grip.
5) shotgun was too long.
6) why use both 3x leathal dose and shotgun? Either would be sufficient.
7) El Duce
8) The writing inconsistency of the note.
9) when and how the note was produced.
10) The circumstances do not fit behavior related to heroin addiction.
11) The lights being installed / apparent staging so the body could be found by an outsider.

Ok so I have thought about this for years.
Suicide does not fit.
The most likely scenario is murder.
KL's hired PI thinks she is behind it.
Former Seattle Police Chief thinks it should be reopened.
It looks like murder to highly experienced professionals.
So for murder, there are multiple possibilities.
1) KL was behind it. Motive, 1 Billion dollars.
2) Someone else close to KK did it for unknown motives.
3) Possibly someone from KK's past
4) Someone else hired someone to do it.
The Third possibility is the faked death scenario. KK had the money to pull it off. KL may have participated.
This theory is the only one where the shotgun makes sense to me.
If someone wanted to stage his murder as suicide, they could just use the massive dose of H, OR the shotgun.
If he wanted to die from an OD, easy enough to do. If he wanted to use the shotgun, no need for H.
But in the case of faking the death, the shotgun would serve to mutilate the face to cover up a body double.
Where would they get a body or would they go do far as to kill someone else?
The police photos show his K tattoo. I would not be surprised if dozens of people who look like Kk have one. Ive seen people all over the country who look like KK, and if shot in the head with a shotgun, could definitely pass if dressed in his clothes, his watch, etc. His own mother ID'd the body. But a shotgun blast from having the barrel in the mouth or under the chin... that is serious mutilation. Remember, the body was also immediately cremated. No dna analysis...
It sure looks like murder, but it might not have been KK. The least plausible thing is suicide, given the facts...

It was 25 years ago today that Kurt was murdered.
He mastered music and a sound which reflected a the consciousness of a culture. The music is immortal.
He could easily have lived without the money. He loved his daughter and would not abandon her.
Some more reasons come to light why it could not be suicide:
A few weeks before someone roofied Kurt in Italy which nearly killed him. That was very likely a failed murder attempt.
Some have suggested that it mentally impaired him, triggering suicide. Seems like misinformation to me. All of the facts point to murder, not suicide.
Kurt had a place he rented near his known H supplier, when he was using. But at the time of his murder, he was clean and had been recovering from the OD on roofies, which someone slipped him. This is undoubtedly why he escaped from the rehab in CA. Why would you go through rehab if someone roofied you?
He would have known someone was trying to kill him. He was concerned about it and had Dylan buy the shotgun for protection! But like a lot of firearms bought for protection, it wound up getting used against him.
Now, imagine the scenario when he was murdered. He knew them. I think at least 2 people were there. He would not willingly shoot a 3x leathal dose. He was experienced. Someone injected him. Why would he allow it? Perhaps there was a conversation and he was held at gunpoint, the life of his daughter threatened. At first he didnt resist, but then seeing how much was being injected he became aware. What could he do? His own shotgun in his face, while someone else finds his vein. Whatever words... it was happening fast. The needle, he looks, sees the dose, just as it plunges in he lurches forward, scaring the shotgun holder and it goes off blasting K in the face, throwing him back. They take a moment, roll his sleeve down, clean up the needle kit, wipe the shotgun, putting it down near him.
In this scenario, he wasnt supposed to be shot. It was supposed to look like he just od'd. But he resisted just enough at the last second.
The alternative, if it wasnt K's body... someone went through a similar scene in his place. The difference to me is that with a double, the shotgun blast would be to damage the face and head allowing for a false identification.
Another thought is that he was tricked by people very close to him. Someone whom it would not bother him to be holding or playing with his shotgun, while someone else looks at his arm and offers to share a syringe with him. See if the syringe were filled for 2 or 3 people to share, he might not have been immediately alarmed. He might have found it strange, and being conflicted about using. A temptation, with very close trusted friends. He gets the first dose, he thinks, but he really gets it all. See no time to pull a trigger, but time to jerk forward causing the person to pull trigger.

If you put a stick/rod through the trigger opening and hold the barrel to your mouth you can use your feet to push on the stick/rob to engage the trigger.

Technically that would be possible under normal circumstances. However, he had enough Heroin in his blood to kill 3 junkies. In the military or assassain (hitman) world, that is called triple redundancy. He would be unconscious before he could insert a rod. No such rod was found. That much H turns the lights out immediately.
