Hoping all other of those magnificent horses are healthy and ready to go. (It does look a bit odd, doesn't it?)

I am, like many I'm sure, a big horse-lover. IMO they are the most beautiful animals on earth.

Trainer for two horses suspended, scratching another horse:
The two horses, Parents Pride and Chasing Artie, died on Saturday and Tuesday respectively at the Churchill Downs namesake racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky. Both were trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., 36, and both collapsed on the track and died after competing in races.

Joseph’s horses are not the only unusual deaths that have cast a pall over Churchill Downs in the final preparations for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. Four horses have died at the racetrack over the span of just five days.

Joseph’s suspension was handed down Thursday, and it will impact another one of his horses who was set to run in the Kentucky Derby. Lord Miles will be scratched from the race, which is the first of three events that make up the coveted Triple Crown.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The early favorite for the Kentucky Derby has been scratched hours before the race.

Forte was declared out of the 149th Derby on Saturday, according to Churchill Downs spokesman Darren Rogers. No immediate reason was announced.

It was the fifth scratch this week from the race...

^ I hope there is going to be a rigorous investigation into these horses' deaths. Something isn't right. JMO

Some kind of new performance enhancing drug that can't be tested for yet. That's my guess

I know- it is awful- I wonder if there is something wrong with the track
The horses are too young to be driven like they are by the owners, trainers, gamblers.

There have been 2 horses euthanized today-- races 2 and 8-
It is horrible and unacceptable
I am thinking something is wrong with that dirt track
I am afraid to watch 18 horses run in the derby

I'm both saddened and furious reading this as a horse lover because IMO, to be quite frank, there is no way in Hell that this is accidental. I would definitely not be surprised if there was drugs afoot.

An in depth investigation must be commenced immediately!!
The causes of the deaths of these wonderful animals must be examined-
I am looking at the dirt track for those break downs
Of course drugs are a possibility and that aspect needs to be investigated as well
I worry about the derby horses - 18 of them on tbat dirt track

I 1000% support an immediate in-depth investigation, now! There is nothing good that could have caused the deaths of these poor beautiful horses.
Whatever is going on needs to be stopped ASAP so no more horses get hurt or worse.

Thank goodness the Derby went off without any incidents. I was very worried.

While I understand that the derby is a tradition…I still find it inhumane. (Yes I’m one of those.haha) MOO. Can’t these horses be rehabilitated and sent to a sanctuary? I know they will never race again but racing isn’t why they are here on this planet. I’ve never been in to the KD so I guess I just don’t understand the appeal and it doesn’t seem worth all this.

I don't like it either and don't get me started on zoos lol

I totally agree with you. I don't understand why they have to euthanize the horses with injuries. Can they not be rehabilitated and live out their lives at a sanctuary? Just because they cannot race anymore doesn't mean they have no use. It makes me sick. I would understand if they were in immense pain and there was no hope of recovering from their injuries, but I suspect that is not the case here. They can no longer race or will need time and medical care to race again, so they don't want to put the time, money, and energy into rehabbing them.
