GUILTY KY - Alex Johnson, 32, Lexington, 20 December 2013

What if he went out and harmed himself? Wouldn't be the first young man suffering from depression and nobody ever noticed. Especially for vulnerable people the days before Christmas are very rough. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who considers that a suicide took place but I think it's definitely a possibility here. Either that or he was involved with drugs etc. and something bad happened because of that.

I'm thinking that rather than someone not liking him, the opposite was true. I'm wondering about the possibility of a stalker of sorts. It would be some acquaintance, probably not that close friend-wise who perhaps became obsessed with him. They chose late evening so that with the cold there wouldn't be many outside to witness his leaving whether voluntary or forced. They could have had some story to get him to leave with them. Since it's the holiday time there are ample stories that would sound plausible. It would seem their desire was to leave no evidence. If they entered his residence they probably touched nothing and waited for him to come along and close and lock his door. If he suggested taking his cell phone the person probably told him that they had one so he didn't need his. (I'm not sure from the stories if he had one and if he did if it was still at his residence.) Since his job was at the University and based on his friendliness (which is consistently mentioned in news stories) he most likely knows many people through his work. Initially, at least, their motive would not to be to harm him. Since there's been no ATM activity or calls it seems like whoever is trying to avoid any detection or trails. To go to these extremes would seem to mean that he knew them well enough to identify them and they are, perhaps, not in a position to simply disappear themselves after committing such a crime. One of the bad things about this scenario is the huge amounts of potential suspects it would involve. There's always the possibility of a random stranger being involved, but I don't think they would have been as careful as far as eliminating leads.

I wonder if they have a tip? Made my heart sink

Same thing i was wondering.....

another thought, is it normal for the fire dept. to do these searches? I notice that the other article, (the wlex one) didnt not mention LE was there...seems weird to me.

I mentioned a day or so ago that someone commented on a news article about Alex missing. They asked if he had a red truck. Now I'm reading another comment on the Find Alex Johnson FB page and a guy in Mississippi is claiming he rec'd a call from a guy wanting a job but the guy was using a different name. He hired the guy, he worked one day, and he hasn't seen him since. However, he claims he's identical to the missing pics posted of Alex. Claims he even showed co-workers his pics and they agree it's the same person. And he adds.....the guy drove a red truck!! What is up with this red truck connection?? This case really has me puzzled.

In regards to searching the river:

Police say their investigation into his disappearance has them going down a checklist of possibilities and this was just one of them.

http://www.wkyt.com/news/headlines/Crews-searching-river-for-missing-Lexington-man-238286641.html

What i dont get is, what lead them to that area of the river? seems like a strange checklist....(do nothing for 12 days, then search the river)....idk, maybe im just frustrated with the situation....i know LE was interviewing people, at least thats what they said.....

i just kind of feel like LE was feeling pressure from the media and the community so they did a 3 hour search for the cameras....if they didnt have a tip or a lead, whats the point of searching the river?? There are miles of farmland from his house to that area with the interstate and a more private local road, (old richmond rd) driving right through it all (farmland) seems like they have plenty of areas to "check off" the list, yet first search is the river....i dont get it.

I graduated high school and college in Lexington, lived there 16 years so I am very familiar with the area. I have many mutual friends with Alex, but I've been in NC for several years so I don't really know him personally. I hope he is found soon! But I don't understand why their hasn't been any ground searches? What about scent dogs that could track his scent from his apt, to see if it continues into the driveway but suddenly ends suggesting he got into a car, or does it continue?? Where does his family live? Where does his gf live?

heres a map of the area searched today....

http://www.bing.com/maps/?FORM=Z9LH...LWSUyMDQwNTE1X19fZV8mbW9kZT1EJnJ0b3A9MH4wfjB+

i feel like a ground search of the area should be done also....how can a lay person like me go about getting that started? or does anyone have a team to suggest?

That is a very specific, small area of the river and nowhere near his apt...don't think it was a random, "just going down the checklist" search. Someone or something led LE there.

Has his family been in touch with LE about the investigation, tips, people interviewed etc? Also I would be asking LE what led them to this specific part of the river (talking about a family member asking this, not random friends.)

I had messaged the person who commented on Alex's Missing FB page that he worked with him for a day in Mississippi (I think it was Mississippi...somewhere south for sure). He just messaged me and told me that the guy that worked for him that one day (who he insists is Alex) didn't return the next day for work, nor did he come back to get his pay for the 1 day. He said the day he worked was the day before the missing poster showed up on facebook. He said that "Alex" knew that he (the guy that hired him) used facebook. He also said this "Alex" guy was moving from state to state and had an out of state cell phone number....evidently not the KY cell phone number.

This is very interesting! I wonder why he would do this (if this is him)

The guy I'm talking with just told me it was actually Louisiana where the work was performed. He said the Alex lookalike came from Mississippi to work with him.

I really don't know why someone would do this. I hope it is him, because otherwise I don't see much hope for him still being alive unless he skipped town or something. Perhaps he had to get out of town for some reason. And then once his disappearance blew up in the media he felt he couldn't call his family or LE may track him down. Just speculating....but not much else to do at this point. :banghead:

Did this guy Advertise on Facebook for the job? How did "Alex" know to call him about employment?
