GLASGOW, KY (WSMV) -
There is a new theory in a case that has baffled investigators for months.

It started after a woman's skeletal remains were found, and now Kentucky State Police investigators believe it's not only a murder but may also be a hate crime.

KSP said getting this victim's identity has been incredibly difficult because they only know part of her dental profile.

Officials are now trying to extract DNA at the University of North Texas, but with the wait for those results a long while away, they're hoping this new hate crime theory could bring some leads.

snipped...possibly wearing a string bikini with a flower pattern.

:waitasec:

i guess if they were sure - of this bikini - they would be to tell how old it was & therefore ultimately how long she had been there?........possibly??.........
hopefully???

Should this be cross-posted to the UID forum? Let's see if we can't find some matches.

Peace to this woman and her family... May they be reunited soon. :rose:

A quick check shows the good folks on the UID forum already have a thread, right up near the top too. :)

okay, this might be strange but the first thing i thought about when the description was given was that i wonder if this female had a sex change operation. could explain the height which some have said was unusual for a native american and could also explain it being a hate crime.

The DNA analysis would reveal whether the victim was a natural born female or a male converted to a female.

I don't know if I would definitively classify this as a hate crime. My first thought was angry boyfriend.

Angry boyfriend doesn't necessarily preclude a hate crime. Given this woman's ancestry, the fact that she was scalped would seem to be a key element of the crime.

thanks carlk i wondered about that because i know they have to take a lot of hormones and stuff. (i have a friend going through it) and wasn't sure how it would effect IDing some one.

Hormones affect skeletal growth and development, but they don't affect DNA.

They do rock. As always special thanks.

Meanwhile, who wears a maybe bikini in Kentucky. It could have been a matching bra and panties, right? Who on this green earth would scalp a woman? Who?

Positive thoughts and prayers going up for this poor woman.

There are some sick people out there, Filly. I would imagine these are the same type of people who would use the word squaw to describe her. :banghead:

It would be a major anomoly for an Indian man to scalp an Indian woman. I was talking with several friends of mine about this today, all Indian. None of them could see one of our guys doing this.

One thought about the bikini/underwear, she may have been a dancer and was murdered by a customer.

Another determinant is oral tori or torus, The palatal version of tori have a higher occurrence in Native American and Inuit populations. Oral torus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have both the shovel-shaped front teeth and the tori.

Am looking at map for Barren County, and trying to find where a woman in a bikini might have gone swimming. A possibility here:

Lodge (as well as camping), beaches, etc. might explain the bathing suit? Would only be helpful though if we could know how long she was left there. :(
