Two years after 49-year-old Brad Ross disappeared, his friends say hope is fading they'll ever see him again.

Investigators laid out a timeline for the afternoon of Ross’ disappearance.

Between 2 and 4:20 p.m., they said he spent time with his girlfriend at her home near Audubon Park. Ross left, saying he was going to drop off some equipment, head to New Albany to visit an employee, then go home to Prospect to feed his dogs before coming back to pick her up for dinner.

Investigators said Ross called his brother in Oklahoma about 4:20, then placed another call to a business associate about 4:45.

At 5:28 p.m., and again at 5:30, cell phone records show two one-minute calls to a payphone at 34th and Market streets.

Two days later, police recovered Ross' truck on 35th Street, not far from the gas station called by his cell phone.

"We're hoping that at some point somebody's going to come forward with something that'll take us to the next step in this case," Mercer said.

Bradley McClocklin Ross

  • bradley_mcclocklin_ross_1.jpg
Ross, circa 2006
  • Missing Since 01/28/2006
  • Missing From Prospect, Kentucky
  • Classification Endangered Missing
  • Sex Male
  • Race White
  • Age 49 years old
  • Height and Weight 5'11 - 6'0, 195 pounds
  • Clothing/Jewelry Description A gray or green long-sleeved Army shirt, lightweight tan work pants and Reebok sneakers.
  • Associated Vehicle(s) White 2003 or 2005 Chevrolet 2500 extended cab pickup truck, which has the words "Cardinal Professional Tree Service" written on it (accounted for)
  • Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Graying brown hair, blue eyes. Ross has previously broken his hip, leg and collarbone.

Details of Disappearance

Ross was last seen on January 28, 2006 in the 1400 block of Falcon Drive in Prospect, Kentucky. He left work and was last seen when purchased $8 worth of gasoline afterwards. He was last heard from when he spoke to a friend on the phone at 4:47 p.m. He was reported missing the next day.

Three days after his disappearance, his white 2003 or 2005 Chevrolet 2500 extended cab pickup truck, which has the words "Cardinal Professional Tree Service" written on it, was found in the 600 block of south 35th Street. It had run out of gas. Ross's keys were on the front seat, the doors were open and there no indications of a struggle, and a pair of Reebok sneakers, possibly Ross's, were in the bed of the truck.

Ross owned his own successful business, Cardinal Professional Tree Service, in 2006. His family has since sold most of his tree-cutting equipment and vehicles. He is described as a very friendly individual who was well-known and well-liked in his neighborhood. He had several business appointments scheduled for after his disappearance, and missed them all without making any arrangements to cover for his absence.

It's uncharacteristic of Ross to leave without warning or neglect his business obligations, and he had no medical conditions which would cause him to wander away. His loved ones stated he was happy with his life at the time he went missing and had no personal problems. He is childless, has never been married, and lived alone with his pet dogs, but he did have a girlfriend.

Ross is a graduate of Waggener High School, and started his tree business when he was in his early twenties. Although there is no hard evidence of foul play in his case, his disappearance is considered suspicious. His case remains unsolved.

(LOUISVILLE)
-- A Louisville family needs your help to find Brad Ross or at least clues about what happened. The businessman disappeared over the weekend as a WAVE 3 David McArthur reports police are finding few leads.

Handling a busy lunch rush at Bourbon Brothers Smokehouse on Brownsboro Road Friday, owner Dave Kastan was also worried about the customer that's missing. "He would come in here all the time -- he'd come back in the kitchen and I'd get him a sandwich."

Kastan last saw 49-year-old Brad Ross in the store on Friday, Jan. 27th. His family reported his disappearance the next day.

Louisville Metro Police Sgt. Jeff Roehrs told us Ross "supposedly had jobs lined up Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and he didn't show up for any of them, and it's unusual for him to miss his jobs."

From Brownsboro Road to Lexington Road, flyers with his picture, are now posted with the hopes that someone will remember anything they may have seen out of the ordinary the night he disappeared.

Ross was pretty well known in the area, as a client, customer and a friend.

Metro Police expanded the search when his truck turned up in the west end. It was found in the 600 Block of South 35th Street with the keys still inside and no signs of trouble.

The truck was marked with Ross's business name, Cardinal Professional Tree Service. Sgt. Roehrs told us "some people say he was going down there to give estimates. We don't know at this point in time what he was doing down there."

Kastan says Ross seemed normal the last time he spoke with him. "He's just a real nice, real friendly guy. Real outgoing kind of guy, kind of a boisterous personality. He's an all-around great guy. That's why so many are upset about it."

"Somebody out there knows what happened to Mr. Ross," Roehrs said. "You don't have to even leave your name; just call in and let us know what you know."

Police seek new leads in missing persons cases gone cold

Published: Feb. 23, 2008 at 4:05 AM EST|Updated: Mar. 5, 2008 at 8:46 PM EST
By Lindsay English

LOUISVILLE (WAVE) --
The search continues for two missing people from Kentuckiana. One case began nearly two weeks ago while the other is stretching now into its second year. As WAVE 3's Lindsay English reports, it has left two families awaiting answers.

Metro Police continue to investigate the disappearance of 48 year old Patricia Hubbard. She was last seen at her home in the South End on Saturday, February 9th. When she was first reported missing, investigators said the last person to see her alive was her husband, Bradley Hubbard. The couple has a long history of domestic violence.

"Mr. Hubbard last saw his wife at their home on Dunkirk, apparently he left for a little while and when he returned home she was not there," said Lt. Barry Wilkerson during a press conference back on February 14th.

Friday, LMPD homicide officials say they continue to follow any leads. They plan to meet with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to see how to proceed, even though there's been no weapon or body found.

Meanwhile, leads remain cold for another of the Metro's missing. 49 year old Brad Ross was last seen January 28th, 2006. Days later, the Prospect business owner's truck was found with the keys still inside in the 600 block of south 35th Street.

Ross owned Cardinal Professional Tree Service and according to police, had several jobs lined up the after he vanished. A friend said when they last spoke, things seemed normal.

"He was a real nice, real friendly guy. He's an outgoing guy, kind of a boisterous personality. He's an all around great guy that's why so many are upset about it," said Dave Kastan back in 2006.

His case remains unsolved. Investigators say they had a few tips in the Brad Ross case that have not panned out, but those leads have tapered off, with nothing new lately.

Officials are renewing their plea for anyone with any information that may help resolve these, or any other cases, to report it.
