I've been doing searches on this pretty regularly and it has been on AMW twice. The last article I have seen was Apr. 5 and Byron still hadn't been located yet. Perkins and Howard committed a theft in Mexico, so even the Mexican authorities are looking for them. They are a couple of American's in hispanic Mexico, you would think they would stand out!

I was am happy to say that I found this article about Destin.I want to thank Adam Gibson and Derek Aaron of the Times journal for this story.I am going to send them an email thanking them for the update.They did not forget about Destin;

Late last week word came to the family that a matching kidney from a donor was on its way to Louisville from San Diego.

"He got the transplant when the kidney arrived last week," said Kem Bell, Destin's uncle.

Bell said that Destin's body accepted the kidney shortly after the transplant and that everything appears to be okay for Destin and his new kidney.

"He is at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville," Bell said. "He hopes to be coming home this Friday." Bell wished to thank the members of the community who stood behind the family during this crisis and said Destin is looking forward to coming home.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------End of snip------------------------------------------------------

Now we are waiting for the heartless scum of the earth to be captured.

Thank heaven for some good news for this young boy. Is anyone still looking for his so-called father? He needs to be caught and locked up but good.

Dark Shadows, thank you so much for posting that! I did searches on this kid for months hoping for an update on how he was doing, or that they would catch the 🤬🤬🤬 at least. It is good to know that even without his father that he still got a kidney. Hopefully this one will take.

Where is Dog the Bounty Hunter when you need him? We need Duane Chapman, he can find every snake in the grass! I hope the sperm donor is caught soon.

Fugitive's son gets kidney transplant

POSTED: 1555 GMT (2355 HKT), September 6, 2006

CNN

(CNN) -- A Kentucky teenager whose dad went on the lam after being let out of jail to donate a kidney to his ailing son has successfully undergone a kidney transplant.

Destin Perkins received a kidney from an anonymous cadaver donor in California in surgery about three weeks ago, his mother, Angela Hammond, told CNN on Wednesday.

Since their escape, Perkins and Howard have been placed on the U.S. Marshals Service's list of the 15 most wanted fugitives and have been sighted in various places such as Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

U.S. Deputy Marshal Dawn Izgarja said leads come in weekly, but none have been substantiated.

"We in law enforcement believe [Perkins and Howard] are still in Mexico," Izgarja said, but added that the couple could be anywhere. He said he has received sporadic reports of the couple in the mid-west region of the U.S.

Izgarja also said it's possible Perkins may be hiding somewhere local, perhaps in Russell or Taylor County and hopes everyone will keep their eyes open and the case in mind.

I think when they find him they make him donate both kidneys to someone else who needs them.

No... not at first. I mean, you can take eyes, some skin, entire limbs and stuff without them dying. That keeps the rest of the body alive so you can get the other stuff later.

Destin spoke tonight on Catherine Crier.
Apparently law enforcement feel that the couple are still in Mexico scamming people.

Destin says that he cannot forgive his father, but he loves him because he is his father.(Even though every human with a heart feels the waste of skin Byron Perkins is the worst father in the world and a few other things.)
Destin was donated his kidney by a person who from California and who is now deseased.

thanks for th update d/s--- some good news for a change--there has been some VERY DISTURBING news the last week or so---this started out very bad- but at least it has a sort of happy ending- bless this little boy, and what he must feel for his father bailing on him the way he did

To my dearest fellow Websleuths,:blowkiss:

:woohoo:

I am so happy to announce to you that the waste of skin couple Byron Perkins and Lee Ann Howard are incarcerated. They apprehended in Mexico in May. (how did we miss that one???)

Father who abandoned son needing kidney returned to Kentucky

Perkins, 38, and Lee Ann Howard were flown back from California Friday afternoon and processed by federal authorities in Louisville, said Rich Knighten, chief deputy U.S. Marshal.
Perkins and Howard, 36, will likely appear in court early next week, Knighten said.

CNN

"There's a lot of anger between me and him right now," Destin Perkins said. "I would like to see him and tell him what I think and just ask one question: Why he did it? It's kind of sad that he would run out on me like that."
