Likely a male IMHO. Hanes lounge pants worm under jeans -- colder weather? But no shirt or jacket?

Does that mean the "partial human remains" are legs/feet?

Yeah, based on the jeans size and the look of the shoes I assumed a male as well. Unsure on what remains they located, but based on the available clothing I would guess the lower half.

I was looking in NAMUS and found a male with black shoes with a velcro strap missing out of Louisville, but that's about a 3.5 hour drive and this man left on foot. The shoe size and jean sizes are a little off though, but the info is estimated on their end.

State Police To Use Rapid DNA Technology To Try And ID Human Remains

Kentucky State Police is continuing to investigate the human remains found in Lake Barkley last month with samples sent to a lab for DNA testing.

State Police Post 1 Spokesman Adam Jones said a sample of the remains will undergo rapid DNA testing to attempt to determine the person’s identity. He said it’s one of the first times they have used the rapid DNA process for identification purposes.

While rapid DNA testing has been around since 2010, a 2017 law has given law enforcement the option of using the technology that is admissible in court. Rapid DNA provides a DNA profile within 90 minutes and is used to help solve a backlog of unsolved violent crimes.

Just an FYI regarding location: There is no Stewart county in KY. Lake Barkley is either in: Livingston, Trigg or Lyon County. Stewart and Houston Counties are on the Tennessee side of the lake.

This lake gets a lot of boaters and houseboat visitors in the summer. Not sure about this year as they have had some issues the past few years off and on with water levels. This is actually a reservoir. Very nice area though when I was there last which was about 18 years ago.

I live nearby; there have been no updates on this.

Could this UID be Jacob Wayne Vinson?

Jacob is missing from Eddyville, approx. 20 miles from the coordinates provided on UID's NamUs page. Based on the clothing recovered, it's most likely that UID was male. Among those clothes there was a pair of thermal pants, which suggests that whoever the body belongs to died during colder weather. I checked the information available for Eddyville, and on the date of last contact with Jacob (3rd January 2021) the temperature averaged 36°F, and also got lower between 7-11 Januray.
I'd greatly appreciate your opinions on whether this is possible. Also, I can't check NamUs exclusions, so apologies if he's already been ruled out.

Certainly possible, but please be aware that the NAMUS map pins are not always accurate.

Fairly often, local reporting will include a street address or road -- quite a distance from the map pin.

Thank you for the heads up, I double checked and the NamUs location is indeed incorrect - it points to a cemetery (presumably where the UID was buried?). The bridge mentioned in the article is a bit further away from Eddyville, but still close enough to consider, imo.

Considering the temperature here in June (in the 90s) and there was still soft tissue on the finding, it would appear the body part had not traveled a long distance? The Cumberland River winds from Eastern Kentucky, into Tennessee, then in this area before dumping into the Ohio at Smithland Kentucky.

I just realized I made a mistake - he went missing in January 2018, and the weather was a bit colder. I'm not sure if that excludes him (based on body decomposition etc.), but hopefully my posts are at least useful as a bump of sorts.

The article linked above said: found north of the U.S.68/80 Barkley Lake Bridge. Here’s maps of supposed location. At that point the river is flowing north, so the body may have been dumped from the bridge, or further down.
