@victoriarobinson642 I totally agree that she looks like Pompano beach jane doe. She has the same longer face as the reconstruction. They said the jane doe was estimated between 11-20, and Cherie was 20 at the time she went missing. The height also matches up with the information on namus. Cherie was last seen on July 1st 1982 and the UID was found on the 20th with a post-mortem interval of 2 weeks. I think this is a very likely match and you should send in!

I know this is a long shot, but how about Jane Doe B-17 from the Green River killings?

She was a white female between the ages of 14 and 19. She stood between 5’4″ and 5’8″ tall and weighed approximately 120 to 145. While her hair and eye colour are unknown, DNA phenotyping suggests she was a natural blonde with blue or green eyes. Some of her teeth had fillings.

Isotope testing revealed Alaska, Idaho, North Dakota, Wyoming or Montana or in nearby Canada but Cherie Lynn Luster was unaccounted for from mid 1982 onward and Jane Doe was believed to be killed by Ridgway in 1983.

I looked up the daughter mentioned and found some family obitiuaries her father has the last name Bass. So I guess either Cherie wasn't married since her daughter didn't have that surname, or the daughter was adopted by family with a different name.

Hi @victoriarobinson642
This might be a controversial guess - but I wanted to know your opinion on this:
I know the Desoto County Jane Doe has already been identified as Lorie Pennell based on DNA analysis, however I believe her post-mortem pictures to be strikingly similar to Cherie Luster... I honestly feel the post-mortem photos don't even resemble Lorie.

The deceased's facial features are extremely similar to Cherie's and not so much to Lorie's, in my humble opinion. The distinctive eyebrows shape, the nose shape, the slightly downturned mouth... And of course, the hair color.

The date of disappearance, height, weight, and age also match.

I'm fully aware this is a very long shot, however I needed to talk about this with someone. I created an account here just to post this. I know you've commented on both cases so I'd really appreciate it if you could chime in, if possible.

Thank you so much!

WOW! Eyebrows and mouth shape are spot on - for Cherie Luster.

I appreciate the validation. I’m honestly feeling a bit crazy for questioning an ID that has been closed with DNA but I can’t shake the thought that the deceased looks so much like Cherie. I’m not saying it’s NOT Lorie, but… It got me thinking!

I wonder if it’s possible that any of the investigating parties made a mistake while solving the Desoto County JD case… Or something like that.

I dunno - to me, the forehead seems more like Lorie’s than Cherie’s; in fact, Lorie’s facial shape overall seems more aligned with the then-still-unidentified DeSoto JD - heart-shaped vs Cherie’s longer, more angular face.

I see what you mean with the heart-shaped face, good point. Hair color throws me off but that can vary cosmetically or could be due to lighting. I'm far from good at these Unidentified cases - but those eyebrows & mouth....plus the widow's peak on the right side of the part.....(if you're facing them, your right..) that matches with Cherie.

I think the other photo of Lorie has a much more striking resemblance to CarlK's reconstruction of Jane Doe.
