KY - Coroner indicted fro several crimes

A Scott county coroner have been indicted for several crimes, including receiving stolen property, theft, perjury, possession of a controlled substance, and so on. It says that the coroner received $40,000 of ammunition, 3 rifles and 10 shotguns from a trooper. The amount of $40,000 worth of ammunition caught my eye, and it seems very much, so I wonder how much/many pieces (?) of ammunition would that make (I don't know anything about ammunition and weapons, and the cost of it).
