By an overwhelming majority, Ed Mattingly won the Democratic nomination for sheriff in Tuesday’s primary election.
Mattingly, a sergeant with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office,
beat candidate Brooks Houck with more than 77 percent of the vote. The unofficial results were 3,712 to 551. Kenny Downs, who filed for the Sheriff’s Office but later withdrew, although his name remained on the ballot, garnered 547 votes.
This is an interesting little tidbit
Houck is a real estate agent who owns two businesses, Houck Rentals and
Select Quality Homes.
