#BREAKING: Steve Lawson is GUILTY on both charges in the Crystal Rogers disappearance.(Conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence) It took a jury 2 hours and 20 minutes to reach a verdict.

#CONT: A jury recommends 17 years.The judge will have the final say at the Aug. 6 formal sentencing that is being relocated back to Nelson County. Next up is the June trial for Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson, being tried together.

17 years is not long enough IMO. SL darn well knew exactly what was going on and actively participated. He could get an early release serving only 30-40% of that time with good behavior. Crystal deserves better than that.

I wonder if SL will testify at BH and JL's trial coming up? I was shocked he actually took the stand in his own defense.

Not surprising, he's been playing the lawyering 'games' from the beginning. I don't think he will be awarded a new trial, at least I hope not.

In court documents filed Wednesday, Lawson’s attorney argued he wasn’t given adequate preparation time for the trial because of the “uniquely overwhelming volume of discover(y) in this case.”


“Discovery included over 400,000 pages of written documents, and hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of audio and video recording, as well as supplemental discovery provided during 2024 and 2025,” according to the court document.

One of the witnesses, Elizabeth Chesser, also testified she talked with Sherry Ballard during one of the recesses, according to court documents. Lawson’s attorney argued this was prejudicial.

His attorney also argued the court’s order was “regularly violated throughout the jury trial” because people were wearing pink. The color is known as a sign of support for the movement “Team Crystal.”
