Due to location of the cellar steps, it was clear Calvin Phillips had been thrown down those steps. —Investigating Lieutenant Smith. Smith’s testimony indicates authorities did not believe Calvin was killed in the basement where his body was ultimately located.

Fiery cross from Public Advocate Tom Griffiths accusing Lt. Smith of lying to the grand jury and mishandling evidence. Smith says he had incorrect cell phone data analysis at the time of the 2019 grand jury hearing. He admits he “overpackaged” the arson evidence sent to lab.

WHOA, Judge Adkins sharply reprimands defense attorney in front of the jury during recross of Lt. Smith. Attorney Griffiths was repeatedly urging the witness to admit to being wrong. “Counsel, move on or sit down!”

Judge dismissed the jury. Said next witness would take them past 5:00 and it’s Friday afternoon and beautiful out. Court resumes 9:00 Monday.

This attorney wants everyone to believe Martin's girlfriend did it? Be very hard for a woman to move 2 dead bodies. And now he is grilling him over cell phone records
I had to run out and just got back. What happened that you think that?

  • #164
The way the attorney was talking he made it seem like Martin's girlfriend did the killing . I am sure a woman can't pick up dead bodies alone.

The detective who photographed the 2015 crime scene describes finding a hidden trap door in the cellar. What he discovered when he opened the door completely changed the investigation.

What do you think happened? I’m confused :(

CP was murdered in the morning, then thrown in the cellar? Then ED came over in the afternoon, found the dog tags on the ground outside, picked them up and put them on the shelf? Did he go over because he saw CM over there? When was he killed and where, in the house then? PP came home after work, walked in and screamed...because she saw a dead body or because someone was there waiting for her?

DAY 3 of Kentucky v Christian Martin is about to begin. Jurors are on hold while the lawyers work out details around a hearing. One of the witnesses the defense wants to call has lawyered up and does not want to testify. #KYvMartin

Who do you think this is? Joan Harmon? Court TV said judge will be litigating this @1:00.

Correction, one of the first responder Stokes was a firefighter who responded to the crime scene, not a police officer.

Major info during cross of Detective Mark Reid, defense draws out that 2 law enforcement officers present for in part of the investigation have the last names Stokes and are related to William Stokes…boyfriend of the defendant’s ex Joan Harmon. Unclear of their case involvement.

I just know the prosecution didn't want JH's act of bigamy brought out in court. It could be her. Or is it possible it's someone related to Stokes??

Hearing going on...Alternate perpetrator could be at play.

It’s about JH and her son invoking their fifth amendment rights.

Prosecution says they were never suspects, but JH’s attorney said the son was once a suspect and incriminating questions by defense would come up. Bigamy thing just came up too.

Ahhh... I see. Watching now. Sheesh... this case :(

Constitutional Clash: Judge asks defense if allowing defense witnesses to invoke the 5th would impact Kit Martin’s 6th Amendment rights. Joan Harmon’s son also has an attorney present via phone, he’d also plead the fifth amendment if called by the defense as planned.

Actually I think son’s attorney is in court, JH’s attorney on phone.

After reading the case law defense brought up, Judge finds the witnesses must testify. Now JH’s attorney arguing to judge to read the whole case.

Judge now wants a book with the whole case, someone offered to get it.

Arguing still going on...

No one took the fifth yet. Hearing going on about JH and her son who would if called by defense. Arguing still going on.

Judge just changed his mind and is going to quash the subpoenas.
