In my county in NC, most women qualify for a medicaid card that pays for birth control and family planning. And there are always the free clinics, there is no excuse for women to be sexually active and not trying to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.

Where I live there are free clinics but there is also welfare and Jeana is right, the more kids they pop out the more money they get.

Planned Parenthood gives out birth control to anyone who needs it. There are also plenty of other places where it can be had. I think that in some areas, these "mothers" receive aid from the state and the more kids they have, the more money they get.

We have planned parenthood here but the sad thing is most these girls want to get pregnant thinking a baby will keep their man then when it doesn't they don't really want the baby anymore! sad but true!

The US needs to start offering birth control to women. It is good for population control and good for women who say they cannot afford birth control or their inurance doesn't cover it, then get prego and think they can afford a kid even though they cannot afford birth control. That mindstate is ridiculous.

Hello go to any health department and you can get free or cheap BC my 15 yr old did it!!!!!!!

I am not without sympathy for them but in our country there is no reason nor lack of resources for them to overcome and learn to be good mothers.
Ignorance can simply not be an excuse when a child is concerned.

The cycle does need to be broke, that is a lot of the problem, but how and where are these loving homes for foster kids. A lot of foster homes take children only for money. My mom is a foster parent and knows first hand how overcrowded they are now, they will place kids with just about anybody who will take them, sometimes I don't know whats worse leaving them to be neglected or leaving them to be abused and unwanted. Not that there aren't good foster parents because their are and my mom is one of them but they are hard to find.

It is that way in Kentucky too. Know of more than one famiy that is at 10 or more children. They get at least $2000 a MONTH in food stamps alone!:furious: Not to mention all the other stuff. One family still has two parents, but are divorced so the mom doesn't have to claim the dad's income.

In my area of the state (I can't speak for other parts), but it is also not uncommon for young teens to have kids (the last year I taught school I had a 12 year old preggo). In this state their parents can then claim that child too -- so more food stamps.

I know of one family have 11 kids and four grandkids -- all under 18 and still living at home..... :furious: You'd think they'd want something different for their own kids...

In Illinois we have a 4 kid limit I think, but they sell their food stamps to people say for 50 and then the other people use 100 in groceries. I have a friend that owned a little convience store in a bad area and he use to loan people money out all the time and when they got their Link card filled he would practically cash it all out at his store, yes very illegal but they did it and I thought what are their poor kids going to eat. They spent the money on drugs and alcohol.

The legal standard of being a parent is VERY low. Also the courts should give more unmarried fathers rights. If for whatever reason paternity was never established, then Dad has no rights until the courts give them to him. Until then Mom can shack up with any loser boyfriend she likes and the child might suffer in the end.

This is a vicious cycle that just repeats itself. Many of the parents in the system were victim of abuse and neglect themselves. How do we stop it?

I understand where you are coming from with this. On the otherhand, to qualify for welfare they must have a child under the age of 18 in the home...hence the baby factory mentality. Fortunately a number of years ago, california set a time deadline and a maximum family grant amount. SO if they were allowed two children, then they'd not get cash aid for the third or any after that. Some of these idiots think having kids is their ticket out, but are ill rpepared to deal with the everyday struggles that go with it.

That being said...these mothers are foolish and should be held equally as accountable as the ones who harm their children.

I don't understand the mother being charged in this case. There are other cases where I think the mom should be arrested, but the article said nothing about there being prior suspicious events between her, the bf and this child. She was taking her other child to the bus stop, not off on a search for crack! Now, if she knew he was abusive and had hurt her children before, then YES lock her up now.

I wondered why they charged her as well. Maybe there is a lot that LE knows but it's not in the article.

That's what I'm thinking, SewingDeb.

Another thing I remember about my youngest daughter...she LOVED putting anything in her mouth at that age, especially baby wipes. We could never understand that because they taste horrible! So while I'm not putting it past another killer boyfriend doing this, I think it's possible that an 8 mos old that is not being watched could have picked up some wipes (they don't come apart easily) and put them in his mouth. I think they may have gone deeper into his throat as he was gasping for breath.

Seems to me if it were the boyfriend that stuffed them there he should have realized the boy was choking and removed them! Then nobody would ever have known. So the bf stuffs them in there to keep him quiet, and leaves the room? Or goes back to sleep? Or is drunk/drugged up and goes off in a haze?

Just the thought of someone stuffing baby wipes down a baby's throat just so they could a little more sleep makes me so angry. I read in some comments after a news article that the coroner ruled it homicide because the baby wipes were too far down the throat for the baby to have done it, even accidentally.

Awwww. That hurts so much to hear. :( :(

It had to be extremely painful and so scary for the poor baby. I believe I have read on here that it takes four minutes to die from suffocation. That would seem like forever when you are trying to breathe.

On the Birth Control issue, I have always said that I would like to see the government provide free tubals and vas at a hospital. You show up, tell them what you want, sign the papers, and you are "neutered" as my children say.

I am sick of these mothers and their 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 boyfriends, it is high time these mothers are charged with neglect for not protecting their babies.

I noticed also that alot of these mothers who have their babies in their teens tend to start acting like teenagers again once their child is a teenager...wanting to dress like their daughters, hang out with their kids friends, they love to call theirself the ''cool mom''...it's very annoying and its not cute. If you are in your 30's with teenage children at home believe me WE CAN TELL YOUR IN YOUR 30's.. I don't care how good your figure is or how young you think you look. You wanted to play house when you were just a teen so now it don't give you the right to take your childs teen years away from them it's their turn and you missed your boat! I have a teenage daughter and I am 32. Believe me I know what I am talking about I see it everyday.

I took some hits on the Nicole Kidman thread in the UP TO THE MINUTE forum because I said that mothers need to put their children FIRST and that its no longer about their wants and desires once they have children.
I further said that mothers need to wait a loooong time before bringing a guy home.

THIS story right here and all others like it are why I believe my thoughts are accurate on the topic.

Absolutely!

I used to feel more sorry for dysfunctional parents, too, until I saw how many people working way too hard it takes to try and "clean up" the mess they make out of their children. Even worse, the dysfunctional parents sabotage what other people do to help the children.
