$1 million bond set for Louisville man charged with murder in death of 5-year-old son

A Louisville man charged with murder after police said he pushed his 5-year-old son down the stairs to his death appeared in court for the first time Saturday morning.

Laron Gardner Jr., 24, is charged with murder (domestic violence), criminal abuse of a child 12 or under and fourth-degree assault (child abuse).

"Police said the investigation revealed Gardner, the victim's father, was alone with the boy and his 4-year-old sister. According to the arrest citation, Gardner kicked, slammed and bit his 5-year-old son before pushing him down the stairs. The 4-year-old girl also told police her father kicked her in the chest as she laid on the floor."

While I like to think that people can be rehabilitated, this is not one of those times. UNDER the prison, pleaseandthankyou.

The family identified the boy as 5-year-old Elious Rayne.

A vigil for Elious will be held Sunday, Sept. 7 from 4-8 p.m. at Algonquin Park, 1614 Cypress Street in Louisville.

The judge ordered that Gardner's bond remain at $1 million and issued a no-contact order for all minors.

He's scheduled to appear back in court in mid-September.

"Every time I got to see him, he was just so excited, he was always smiling, always, he was such a good little kid, and he was so sweet," Elious' grandmother, Toni Bindner, said.

"How you could hurt a baby so sweet as him, I don't get it, I don't understand it. He was a 5-year-old little boy that had so much to look forward to and he's not here no more," Bindner said.

awe his poor little sissy, they were only 11 months apart. I hate that she also suffered abuse and had to witness her brother being killed by the one who should have been a protector for them both.
