We cannot say whether or not this is a teenage girl or woman as long as we have no stats. I know some of the articles are stating "woman" but that very much as well could be a female in her late teens.

I'm surprised by the lack of info. Why withhold info such as est. age, race, length of time deceased or condition of body, hair color, ANYTHING? Even vague info would be helpful.

I just find it so odd that they release a picture of the shirt but zero other info about the UID.

There's just nothing. The shirt looks to me like a juniors style but I've seen several people WELL past the "juniors" age wear similar things. If this is a homeless person or someone a tight budget it could have come from a donation bag, Goodwill, borrowed by a friend. Or maybe this woman just likes loud colorful tops. It's so frustrating when so little info is given.

Something I DO find helpful is the condition of the shirt. Besides the shoulder tear it's pristine. It doesn't look like it had (excuse my bluntness here) a decaying body in it. It doesn't appear to be sun damaged or covered in blood, mud, etc. Not faded in the least. It looks like it's hardly been worn at all. I don't think the tops owner had it long or has been deceased for long. My best guess is it's a more recent missing person.

All in my very uneducated opinion!

I just bumped up her case over in missing! Hope she is found safe. Would you mind posting her FB page over there? I haven't been able to from my phone.

Going right now. :)

I agree...makes me wonder why there has been no other information released other than the photo of the shirt. I'm so sorry if this sounds really morbid, but maybe there wasn't a lot left to identify her with because of the dog.

Identified:

http://www.wdrb.com/story/24310022/body-of-woman-found-dead-in-hart-county-identified

Police say her name is Podesta Regina Owens, originally from Memphis Tennessee. Owens, 57, was also known by several other names.

Police have listed aliases for the woman as: Jetta Regina Davis, Podesta R. Maher, Jetta Ginger Miller, Regina Ginger, Jean Ginger Owenn, Angie Ginger Owens, and Jean Ginger Owens.

If anyone has information about Podesta Owens, they are asked to contact Detective Erik Salman at 1-800-222-5555.

A quick google search of her name (the real one I suppose) had some interesting info. She was a registered sex offender from TN. If it's not OK to post please let me know.http://www.tbi.tn.gov/sorint/sor_Details.aspx?htid=00313248
03/28/2008 CRIMINAL EXPOSURE TO HIV: ONLY SUBSECTION (A)(1) OF 39-13-109

They haven't released COD that I can find. I'm wondering if it had something to do with the above.

I'm glad she has been identified. Since police are still asking for information about her I wonder if she had family or maybe she no longer had a relationship with her family.

Well, looks like I was wrong about the age range. Lesson learned: Don't try to guess a UID's age by the clothing they wear.

I don't think Podesta was reported missing? I wonder how they identified her and why they withheld so much information about her in the first place. Maybe they fingerprinted her, input it into a database and got a match because she was a registered sex offender whose prints were already on file?

ETA: What is ''criminal exposure to HIV''? Does that mean she had sex with someone and knowingly withheld the fact that she was HIV positive and got them infected on purpose? Because, if she was murdered, that sounds like a possible motive (especially if the person died and a friend or family member wanted revenge).

I too assumed the UID was much younger based on the clothing. Maybe LE publicized the shirt photo because it was distinctive, hoping someone would recognize it and narrow their identification focus to one particular person. Yes, they'd still need dental records or DNA, but it would be cheaper and quicker if they only had to obtain records on the most likely candidate, and releasing the shirt photo as a first measure versus other physical details would maintain more privacy for the UID and her family.

Criminal exposure to HIV is a charge for someone who knows he/she is infected with HIV and exposes someone else through sexual contact, I.V. drug use or blood donation:

Maybe she died of exposure, Kentucky received bad storms last week...rain and snow along with Tornado warnings. Looks like she has no teeth so I guess they may used finger prints. If she came from Memphis then a trucker must have taken up so far and she trekked across the fields before she came to the abandoned house. MOO.

:rose: R. I. P. Podesta :rose: JMO, I assume she died either of exposure from the recent storms that I posted about, possibly, suicide, complications from having HIV, or a drug overdose. Also, purposely catching HIV counts as a sex offender offense. Believe me, somehow there are people who intentionally catch HIV. Most likely for recieving free medical care. How law enforcement figures that out, I do not know. I was once looking through the Charley Project for a PM for an identified woman, and I came across a missing woman from Louisiana whom Meaghan of CP noted under circumstances, was a registered sex offender, because of intentionally getting HIV. Gee, I know sometimes people will intentionally poorly attempt to rob a bank or obviously commit fraud at a bank to go to jail, so they can have shelter, food, and medical care, but intentionally catching HIV to get medical care and benefits from the government is just going too far. Not saying that Podesta did so, of course.

I too thought she would be some one much younger late teens to mid 20's given the top. It curious, today as i volunteered at the local second hand shop, I saw a woman in her 50s wearing a top that my 13 daughter wears. A pink top with a drawn on bow and writing below the bow looks 'teenager cute' on a 13 year old but it looked so out of place of the woman, it made me think that she was someone who could not cope with aging and so wore 'young clothes ' to make her feel younger and thought she might get more attention if she wore young woman clothes. I wonder if this was the same for Podesta. My sense is that Podesta did not have a lot of peace her life. I hope she has found peace now.

Looking 57 years old is not a good strategy for a woman who is looking for guys. Given her previous conviction that's my bet as to what was up, she was in the habit of trying to pass as in her early forties or even late thirties and because she had dark skin with less sun damage she had a good chance of doing so especially in bad light. Maybe not a hooker as such (or maybe she was, at times... those aliases would indicate it) but at the very least hanging around and looking for guys who could relieve her poverty in some way, whether by giving her money or doing things for her... give her a lift to where she wants to go, buy her a drink, buy her a meal, share some drugs, help her do a scam, whatever.

This whole case makes me really sad. I can't imagine she'd have chosen to live that life at her age if she'd had proper treatment for addictions and enough social support to survive on.
