Jeffrey Wisecup, 27, is being accused of watching his mother’s suicide attempt, and now he’s being charged with her murder. A not guilty plea was entered for him.

At the time of his arrest, Wisecup told police he found his mother dead in her bedroom, but later authorities say his story changed. Wisecup admitted the pair initially had a suicide pact, but after watching his mother have a seizure as a result of the pills she swallowed, he dragged her into the room and shut the door. Wisecup continued to go to work as well as the liquor store for five additional days after his mother’s death.

Wisecup is being held on a cash bond of $250,000. He’ll be back in court next Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

That liquor store part is entirely understandable. The weight of guilt lies heavy.

Still - not sure if $250,000 bail entirely necessary. Charges a bit steep.
