Kentucky State Police at Post 9 are asking for the public’s help to locate a missing Floyd County man. Troopers say 26 year old Jordan Tackett was last seen on February 18th in the Cow Creek area. On Sunday, following a tip, investigators spent the much of the day with volunteer firefighters searching an old strip job area in Floyd County, but came up empty handed. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Jordan Tackett is urged to contact Kentucky State Police at Post 9 at 606-433-7711.

"He usually checks in with me. The longest he's ever stayed away is like two days," recalled Rita Scarberry.

Scarberry says it is out of character for her grandson to cut all communication.

Kentucky State Police troopers are investigating. They are still trying to find out if Tackett is in danger.

"He's not only my grandson. He's like my own child," said Scarberry.

She told WYMT, she believes someone may have taken him and she fears for his life.

"I've heard so many rumors, places that he's been but he's not. It's just very devastating," explained Scarberry.

From the link:

"We have received more information in the past week or so and the leads are being followed up on at this time," explained Kentucky State Police Trooper William Petry.

Trooper Petry says they have received many tips on where he may be.

"There were several cabins over in a certain part of Cow Creek, Route 194 that were searched and looked at. As of right now, there is no indication that anybody has been there or is there now," Petry pointed out.

Such a rural, rugged area, I don’t have a good feeling about this.

Troopers received information that led them to obtain a search warrant for a home in the Wayland community. Thursday afternoon, they discovered a body buried in the back yard.

The body was found in the general area where police have been searching for 26 year old Jordan Tackett, who was last seen in February. At this point, no connection has been officially made between the two cases.

His FB says he is from Prestonburg, but lives in Wayland.
Right. And, he was last seen in the Cow Creek area unless something has changed? Cow Creek is in Owsley County and Wayland is in Floyd County.

ETA: Is there another Cow Creek area? I'm not from KY, so relying on Google. :)

I'm not sure if they were talking about Cow Creek Rd., or Cow Creek itself, the mouth of Cow Creek, is around 20 miles from Wayland, but we don't know if the person was telling the truth about seeing him at Cow Creek. KSP has now made arrests in connection to the grave they've unearthed. Idk if it's him or not, but I do think he may have been a wanderer.

Cow Creek is a physical feature (stream) in Floyd County. The primary coordinates for Cow Creekplaces it within the KY 41653 ZIP Code delivery area.

On Friday, the victim in the case was identified as 26-year-old Jordan C. Tackett, of East Point. KSP opened a missing persons investigation for him in February 2019.

KSP says that 44-year-old Wesley Martin, of Wayland, was charged with murder and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.

A body was found in a ‘clandestine’ grave in a Kentucky yard. An arrest has been made
After receiving information about the body, troopers and detectives obtained a search warrant, police said.

Update: Man arrested for the murder of a missing Floyd Co. man

[...]

Police say his body was found in a shallow grave, only about three feet deep and only about ten to 12 feet away from Wesley Martin's home.

"The information they had was solid", said Keith Bartley, who is the Floyd County Attorney. "We were confident in the information. That's why we sought the search warrant. And of course, discovering the body exactly where we thought we would find it confirms that the information we had was accurate."

[...]

"That was not the only evidence gathered there at the scene. There is substantially more evidence that will support the murder charge besides just the discovery of the body in his yard", said Bartley.

[...]

Wesley Martin is being held in the Floyd County Jail on a $2 million bond.

He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and defacing a firearm.

He will have a preliminary hearing on April 15 in Floyd County District Court.

[...]

Prosecutors tell us Martin was arraigned Friday morning, and an automatic not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

The 43-day search to find 26-year-old Jordan Christopher Tackett ended with the discovery of a shallow grave on Thursday, April 4, in the yard of a residence on Mill Creek in Wayland.

[...]

KSP arrested Wesley Martin, 43, of Wayland, charging him in two separate cases with murder, one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possession of a defaced firearm.

[...]

KSP Trooper Billy Ball reported in court filings that he and other troopers found a loaded shotgun, a “sawed off shotgun” and a large knife at Martin’s home on April 4.

[...]

Trooper William Howard reported in the filing that in addition to Tackett’s body, KSP officials recovered several other items from the property, including a burned camouflage fabric, screen and mesh materials, a burned shoe, an item from the shallow grave, two shotguns, suspected methamphetamine, a used .38 special casing, a Samsung tablet and an Apple iPad.

Martin was arraigned in Floyd District Court on Friday, with Marcum setting his bond at $2 million cash in the murder case and $10,000 cash in the gun-related case. The preliminary hearing will be held in both cases next week.

The investigation, however, is continuing. Petry said investigators are still conducting interviews and County Attorney Keith Bartley said more charges could be filed against Martin and/or other individuals.

[...]

Petry said KSP officials obtained a search warrant for Martin’s property because of information received during the investigation. Bartley said potential witnesses provided information to police.

[...]

Officials have not yet reported an alleged motive for the murder. The cause of death has also not been released, pending the results of the autopsy, Petry and Bartley said.
